Hello guys and girlies!

Believe it or not, I've set my first steps into overclocking! Cute huh?

This is the 'rig':

- ASRock 870 Extreme 3

- AMD Athlon II X4 640 (3.0ghz=standard)

- Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X OC (860mhz core, 1200mhz mem, @1.125V)

- 4gb ddr3-1333

Benchmarks:

- 3D Mark Vantage (performance test):

P9692 3Dmarks

gpu: 9780 (JN: 30 fps; NC: 27 fps)

cpu: 9437 (AI: 1182 o/s; PT: 15 o/s)

- Unigine Heaven DX11 2.5:

Settings: DX11, stereo3D disabled, shades high, tess normal, ani 4, AA off, 1920x1080

FPS: 20.0

Scores: 505

Min FPS: 6.5

Max FPS: 45.7

Overclocking the 5770:

Got it to run the GPU-tool stability test stable (about 15mins) at

- 1000mhz on the core

- 1200mhz on the memory (=standard)

- fan speed 80%

- +/- 66°C

- 1.125V (=standard)

Reached the 1000mhz goal! *happy with it*

Haven't tried to get more yet, nor have I overclocked the memory.

First I'm going to play some games now to check stability there

Found the maximum overclock for the memory!

- 860mhz on the core (=standard)

- 1530mhz on the memory

- fan speed 80%

- +/- 70°C

- 1.125V (=standard)

The screen kind of flashed once at this speed, the gpu-tool stability test didn't give an error, but just to be sure I stopped here at 1530mhz on the memory ^^ never thought I'd even reach the 1500

Notes

I've played some Fifa 11 (yeah I know

), had no problems what so ever! I actually yhink it went a little smoother than before? Or maybe that's just my imagination...

Tomorrow some Crysis, BF BC2 and cod4. Looking forward to it!

Added some benchmarks done with standard clocks of the 5770

Went to 1530mhz memory clock! Awesomeness ^^ now to find the combined maximum...

I'll keep you posted! (if that's ok? That's what this forum-section is for right?

Does anyone know how to make one of those thingies you can put in your signature that 'validates' your overclock? I saw many of cpu-z, but can it be done with gpu-z? And how?

I had a pair of the exact same cards. OC'ing made no difference at all to the performance of them.

Great little cards tho! LE do WC blocks for them as well, they have about 6 different non ref blocks for 5770's

Woops, forgot about this topic

I've got my card running at 900/1400 now ^^ It indeed didn't make much of a difference... Some higher scores in benchmarks ofcourse but in 'real life' performance, I dunno... Not seeing a big difference.

Battlefield 3 plays smoothly at high settings at 1920x1080, that's really all it needs to do right now

I'm still very happy with it!
