Hello Guys I have this MOBO (ASUS RAMPAGE 3 GENE) and I need help to config my system to read my memories that are Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT 2000MHz (6 GB)

I tried to used XMP and Manual but is not working and all the time fail to get position.

The rest of my system is:

GPU: EVGA GTX 480 Superclocked

CPU: Intel i7 950 Bloomfield (Cooled by Corsair H50 through push/pull)

Windows 7 (64 bits)

Please help me anyone for get average overclock of 3,5 to 3,8GHZ and use the MHZ of my memories. At moment, I am using only Auto because failed (not work) XMP and manual config
sad.gif

What is happening is, after I select XMP as exemple, I go to save for reboot, after it, my pc turn off and turn on auto but, for my unhappiness not enter in BIOS and not appear any video. For me solve this situation, I need turn off my PC manually and turn on for enter again in the BIOS. when I do this, appear the message in the initial of the system that the overclock fail and ask for me press F1 to config again in BIOS Menu or F2 for default settings.

Please help me anyone about this matter.

The MOBO is updated since June 2010. I really need support because is too strange XMP not work properly.

Its not that XMP isnt working. Its that you have not done the rest of the work to get it stable. TBH you will need to overclock your system to get your rig to run at memory 2000mhz.

TBH dude be prepaired to replace your cpu cooler.

First of all set the XMP to 2000mhz setting and tell me the

bclk

uclk

multiplier

cpu vcore

ram volts

qpi volts

That way Ill be able to see what might need tweaking

Hello Tiny

Tks for reply.

Why I need change the cooler of the CPU? Is not good? What one is better? I changed the fans to CM R4 with 92 CFM. I think that I will not have trouble with temps. In auto my pc working in 35 to 38 celsius degrees.

Now about my case, TBH (what is this) I am not familiar with this!

Also, what you requested me i normally use the same config that show in XMP. So, I need help in this matter too.

The XMP inform:

ratio 22

bclk 143

uclk auto

multiplier auto

cpu vcore auto

ram volts 1.65

qpi volts 1.25

The memories timing is 8 9 8 24 2N 51

Basically to get to 4ghz you will have to overclock dude.

Take a look at this thread here:

http://forum.overclock3d.net/index.php?/topic/30808-i7-950-oc-thoughts/

I understand you are a beginner so dont be put off, think about what you are doing carefully and dont rush.

Ask any questions but I can 100% assure you all questions have been asked in the OC forum before so its deffo worth a read.

If you want easy settings then this sint for you. If you want to learn about your PC and overclocking then you are deffo in the correct place.

I understood, but I dont want to push my system to 4 GHz. I really want to do is maintain my machine in 3,5 GHz and the memories in 2000 MHz.

I dont know why is not working XMP because I think that if you set there dont need change any config.

If I try any over will fail again in my opinion mainly for the fact that XMP is not working.

the corsair memories is certified for XMP as you know.

About CPU cooler, what is good for me have idea? Noctua?

Noctua yes.

XMP can still need fine tuning as some of the volts may be over volted to allow for older CPU's and they do not set the sub timings correctly either.

Hmm

But do you have idea about what is happening? I sent message to Asus Support to check because is too strange not work properly this XMP.

Yes mate its you not setting it up correctly.

Try setting the tRTP memory sub timing to 8 (just edit the xmp) and see how that is, otherwise increase qpi and vcore.

hi cachacerio i had the exact same problem with my r3e board i tried all sorts of settings without sucsess xmp profile would not boot at all untill i updated my bios from 0901 to 1005 since i updated the bios everything has been ok xmp profile loads no probs check to see what bios you have and if need be update i think this will solve ur problem with xmp profile

Hey Tony

ok. In this case I will put the memos 8 8 8 24 2N

About QPI and Vcore, what suppose you?

I will try today to see what will happen and inform here.

Now I am in the company and i cant do anything.

Hello Tallun

Wow, where got you these updates? Oh man, I only see the version 0901. How may I do this update? Need install 0901 first or direct the last one? I ask because I dont have idea if the new update bring the last update amended some errors and new settings.

hi mate ive looked on asus's website and it seems the r3e gene board is only on bios 0704 i dont know if you can use an other bios ie r3e atx board is up to 1102 on bios history were the r3e gene is only on 0704 where have you seen the 0901 update for your board? its easy enough to update your bios using ezi2 flash bios heres how restart your system and enter bios press f5 then f10 to reset bios enter bios again under tool menu select ezi 2 flash select the drive in the left plain use tab and up n down arrows to select new bios file press enter to start flashing MAKE SURE YOU SUPERVIZE THE UPDATE bios will auto start remove flash drive before it restarts just unplug when you hear the beep now you can power down your system remove the power cord for 2 mins then power backup enter bios press f5 then f10 re enter your bios to check you have sucsessfully flashed your bios look in top right of bios screen to see bios number ie 0704 or 0901 or what ever update you flash too. you should have no problems running @ 3.8ghz with 2000mhz ram on your setup just update your bios to the latest one they are all on asus's website failing that just type qpi llc into google n look at the thread on rampage iii extreme good luck m8 n happy overclocking:lol:

Hey Tallun

I misunderstand but I saw about R3E and R3G lolz

. I will do manually the update of the version 0704 because yesterday only downloaded the 503 version. So, I will do it by my self to see if happen accordingly. I will follow your instructions about

.

For overclock, I have a doubt what I use for the following items:

Case I go to reach 3,8 GHZ

DRAM Bus Voltage: ????
huh.gif

CPU Voltage: ?????
huh.gif

CPU PLL Voltage: ?????
huh.gif

QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: ?????

first things first mate i would update your bios i would also suggest that you use the ezi 2 flash in your bios as it is the safest way to update also make sure you backup your system files before you flash your bios just to be on the safe side heres some settings for you to try for 3.8ghz set bclk 200 x 19 = 3.8ghz set your dram to 2005 uclk to 4009 qpi/link data rate to 7218mt/s manually set your ram to 8-9-8-24 -72-2n for your voltages set vcore to 1.275 cpu pll 1.8 to 1.88 set your dram bus to 1.65625 and qpi/dram to 1.4 to 1.5 leave everything else on auto make sure to disable all the intel stuff ie speed step tech, cie support ,intel c state tech and see how you go with that
smile.gif

ive had a play heres some settings to try for 3.8ghz ive done you some pics of the bios setting ive used to get 3.8ghz with 2000mhz ram follow the pics for all the settings you need as others will tell you all processors are differant what works for me wont always work for you though so you may need to tweak here n there vcore ive got at 1.175 you may need more or less same with qpi/dram core ive set at 1.45 you may find it needs to be higher to keep your memory stable at 2000mhz again you may be able to run at lower voltages for 2000mhz though i would say start at 1.4 happy overclocking heres your easy to follow pics

Hello Tallun

Yesterday I update as you told and voiala.... Bios is ok now!

After it I tried to test XMP normal with QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.25V. So, Not worked! I think that this happen because the QPI RAM is low for support 2000 MHZ. The minimum for support I think is 1.5V
angry.gif

Well, again I tried to make over and I used the follow settings:

AI overclockTuner: Manual

CPU Ratio Setting: 19

Base Clock Frequency: 200Mhz

CPU Turbo Power Limit: Disabled

Intel Speedstep Tech: Enabled

DRAM Frequency: 2005 MHZ

UCLK Frequency: Auto

CPU Voltage: 1.31V

CPU PLL Voltage: 1.81V

QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.31

Again not worked!!!! Appeared Black Screen and start to give results of non function in some hardware like USD, Drivers etc....
ohmy.gif

Well, I returned to the Menu and I changed to:

AI overclockTuner: Manual

CPU Ratio Setting: 19

Base Clock Frequency: 190 Mhz

CPU Turbo Power Limit: Disabled

Intel Speedstep Tech: Enabled

DRAM Frequency: 16.. MHZ

UCLK Frequency: Auto

CPU Voltage: 1.20V

CPU PLL Voltage: 1.78V

QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.28

This time I got Blue Screen, error and start to reboot all time, OMG. I returned to the BIOS and put auto to amend situation.
sad.gif
ohmy.gif

So, I think that I am doing bad changes here. After I enter in the windows again I got the idea only to maintain my RAM in 1600 MHZ

In the BIOS, I used manual and almost all in auto. I only add timing 8 9 8 24 2N, put RAM in 1600 Mhz and DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.64 .... This time worked properly and not change any temperature.
dry.gif

I did some tests and ok. The unique thing that appear now is info of the ASUS AI Suite II about OPT_FAN1 that is not working and Voltage CPU 0,00. What is this? Is too strange because I checked all fans and works normally. I dunno what is this. I did some tests in Benchmark and get nice result with 500 points more than stock result. I really dont have idea about these infos of suite now.
