If you haven't tried out this new service then do so now. You won't be disappointed!

Basicly it's a method of streaming your media content (music, videos, films, files) over a network in a user friendly, idiot proof, web based GUI that mimics Winamp 5.5. I.e. I am a student in Cardiff and went home to my parents house a couple of weeks ago, so I left my PC on running Orb and from home I could seamlessly watch videos and listen to music all stored on my Cardiff PC. Obviously a decent connection is required to make the most of it but AFAIK it's using some clever adjustable bitrate codec to stream it.

It gets better too... I have an xbox 360 in my living room and as you may know you can connect it to your PC running WMP11 / WMC to stream videos and music to it. You may also know that MS being MS only allow you to stream WMV video files due to DRM bo****ks, well you can also connect your xbox to Orb, which acts as a frameserver and will allow you to stream ANY format of video. Most Excellent.

My only problem with Orb is that the current version has given me an error with regsvr32 not quitting properly when shutting down windows, although there is a debate about this on their forums and should be fixed in the next release.

Anyone else had any joy with it?

It sounds cool, never heard of it and I'm offline @ home...

So, can you stream direct from your friends PC's who are elsewhere?

anywhere with an internet browser, iirc you dont even need to install a plugin as its all xHTML
