opty 165 @ 3003.92

well guys just hit 3GHZ with my 165 opty just 2MHZ short of a new record, my sata drives keep craping out though has anyone got any ideas how to stop this happerning?

With the SATA drives have you tried the other sockets. I remember when I had a SLI-DR it had two different sets of SATA ports...

If not, do you have the option of running IDE, would it help?

yes tried other sockets did not make much differance, as for IDE i dont have any ide drives as i sold them all, is there anything else i can try?

Hmmm, what controls them? Perhaps upping the chipset voltage will help? Also additional cooling usually helps to stabilise higher clock speeds.

Ok guys, just disabled everything in windows and removed all power to cd drives and put fan on sata drives, uped voltage to chipset a bit, now at 3071.96GHZ, but as again sata drives craped out, not the chip or ram but the sata drives.

SATA Drives are hot swap - maybe disconnecting it when booted to windows?

Or maybe convert to a USB 2 drive?

or add a PCI SATA drive controller or use the SIL3114 controller instead of the nvidia?

Thanks mav mate will have a look and a go at what you have said, thanks for the info, by the way it was ment to be 200MHZ not 2MHZ so still a way to go to beat the WR.
