Opteron 146 CAB2E Coldbug Issues

Im looking forward to strapping my mach 1 to my opty 146- but as ive seen on XS, the chip i have is supposed to have a coldbug- so what? do i have to mega-clock it so its toasty warm or do something weard like take away the themal paste?

You aint got a mach unit anyways AFAIK, :O but on water the Opty should still clock well.

Machs with r134 are good to beat the cold bug issue as they dont get cold enough and give better results than water

Check your TDP and TCM values for a guide to OC potential big numbers are good. High 50`s onwards.

i've got Phase now. It got delivered yesterday

Belive the CAB2E is bugged -10c below. I know the guys that 1st start to pop the IHS off found they had to cover them surface mount resistors on the chip and then they had no more bugs. Could it be that we maybe just need to pop off the IHS do the same kinda mod IHS back on it'll work?? I'm no AMD wiz and uber mad i bought all of this and nowt will work under my phase unit....i was always right AMD suck and Intel for the cold and speed

Stuck between Yonah and Conroe currently as this is noway going near an AMD as they SUCK!!! officaly in my book all round

I wouldnt say AMD suck, but I know you`ll be disappointed, I was there when I was starting out... it took me 2 phase units and 4 CPUs to get where I wanted to be (ish)

The CAB2E CPUs are coldbugged WAY above -10...I think some guys with adjustable waterchillers experimented and only cleared the bug around +10.

Removing the IHS makes things worse (generally) because that helps the temps drop more, and some peeps (including Mole I think) tried that on non-coldbugged chips and discovered problems because removing the IHS made the SMC too cold, thus introducing a bug.

Nope i don't need to read that to know possibly how good they are

I've used them 1st hand and also tired to overclock it and the words are gay as french conection uk

Intel just clocks and clocks and does all it says on the tin, buy it fit it, freez it clock it happy days

Amd why even bother.

My work place has ditched them due to not being able to run any of our requriements and servers got chnaged due to major lag.

Mobile expenses, remote ui, G3, addaqura, Ecopy, Serecret send,

Just few that we use on a network basis to headoffice and out machines

G3 is the newst and is uber demanding, addaqura is wicked bit of software but even demands on Intel stuff and we use it for progrming the bootroms, HD's and RAM of the machines

Not allowed to talk to much on it all but hey. SS is the most demanding type we use here and you can gather why....not even Hp who do all the net work stuff at DML have access to there server for it. Powerfull stuff

Anyway i'm uber unhappy that my opty is bugged. mav i have a phase you'll see it uber soon once i've finshed tinkering with things along with the rest of the world and then sig etc etc shall be updated there after.
