Hey guys,

i have £1400 (1600 - 200 for the monitor) to custom build a gaming pc.

I have built a gaming pc previously (For my brother) which was air cooled, but this time i am building one for my self and im wanting to go with custom water cooling, because it looks cool and also it will allow me to push my components to their limits without them frying.

Guys please can u recommend mother board, cpu, gpu, case and what will go well with the custom water cooling, and will be future proof, e.g. thunder bolt etc.

Or should i just go with air cooling? GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE!

I really hate noise, i want a machine that will run silent, while i game.

PC. inc 2 thunderbolts. http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/0bd5c46dd8b8476997769da338839a09

Then grab a XSPC d5 rx360 kit, another rx120 and ill get the gpu block in a min. Primochill 7/16 tube.

win.

Looks beast mate, thanks for your help!

U reckon that the best i can do for the graphics card?

and is there a windowed version of the case? would be really good if there was.

Saw u studied comp sc at uni, hehe i applied & waiting for my results to see if i got into uni of choice. Trying to get my mind of the results by building a pc lool. O.O

Cool! Which uni?

ucl.

thanks again :)

how u finding it?

Yeh I enjoy it, you definitely get a lot out of it. I would recommend that you start reading up on javascript and java. Thats what we got taught in 1st year. I would imagine most unis will start with java.

How confident are you with moding the case?

Cool. I still use eclipse for java/C/C++ Dev on the mac, might move to Xcode. What sort of applications are you making?

First game that I made, in Java. Part of a coursework.

Big Java (book).. the problem with the youtube vids are the some people might have bad styles ect. It took me a while getting used to OOP, but you will just click after a while.

Back on the pc.

Ok, Might wanna look at getting a rx240 in the drive bay under the res. (use a mount like on mine to suspend it in the drive cage)

Oh, are you wanting the 680 now. I just put a 670 because its better value and you could get another down the line.

Your right about different styles, etc, because after watching a couple vids, from different people, i realised they all had different styles of writing their code.

Okay, the bracket seems like a good idea. Do you have that kit you told me about earlier, if so is it well built? Never had brought from that company before.

Actually that is true about the 670's.. have you found the waterblock for it? Because i just found out i can get a hydro copper waterblock for the 680 for about £100. A bit more expensive but i think ill be able to get it with my budget.

Well the 670 I listed uses a 680 pcb so you can use any reference 680 block. I would grab an xpsc one since EK are fucking everything up right now.

hydro copper waterblock

If its only an extra 100 it might be worth it, it will save you time. However I worry about OEM applyed paste, my 580 was a mess.

Yeh on the go/train and iOS dev. Thats my old mac on the desk tho :)
