Hi,

I am interested in folding for a good cause, i have next to no knowledge on how to do so, and what it involves but have a pretty decent rig sat here for 8 hours (ish) a day while i run a computer shop and if it can be put to good use to help humanity in some sort of way, sign me up.

I am about to go to bed, its really late, but i spotted this and would rather post this before i forget to.

So, clue me up...

My rig spec is:

3770k @ 4.6Ghz
16GB Corsair 2133 DDR3
2 GTX 670's

that's all you need to know for this purpose right ?

If anyone can post links so i can read/download relevant software i will do so, my only initial concern is how fast or whether it will at all, degrade my hardware ( as im not actually that well off )

If there are none, or it only amounts to about the same "wear and tear " as say, gaming all day long.... then that is fine.

:)

Hope to hear from you.

The two nVidia cards ought to get you quite an awesome score.

If you could spare folding with those you'd really help the team massively!

Ok, sound. . . I will start the ball rolling after work tonight.

Tom, don't get me wrong i am fully interested and willing to contribute to the teams goal but my only worry is degrading my hardware faster than usual and well my leccy bill ( as were being robbed blind at the moment eh )

As i said above, if it just amounts to the same kind of results as gaming all day then im fine with that but if it creates an alarming amount of heat and or maxes the wattage out on my PSU continuously i may have to regulate the time spent doing it a little more.

I only ask because im willing to leave the machine folding from say, 9:30am - 5:00pm and between 1:00am - 8:00am.

P.S Im the dude who modded my 670's with H60's and asked you if i could send you my rig pics for your critique on Facebook (Rob Sharpe)

I finally made it over to joining the forums :)

@ mihapiha - so long as i get it installed/understand the whole process ( pretty sure i will ) then im more than happy to help. :)

You do whats right for you dude but the boys here can help you set things up - its really addictive though :p

I'm sure its no more than overclocking or battlefield 4 :)

Look forward to getting involved, by addictive do you mean overclocking to squeeze out better results ? lol ... im going to enjoy this i can see it coming haha

No the fact that you get points and youll just want to beat everyone!

I can relate to that!

If you are running the cards at default or mild OC I think you will be fine. Just be sure you have good ventilation and monitor temps.

The only GPU related failures I have had are fans and that was after a year or two on some cheap Gigabyte GTX 460s.
