I have 3 hard drives:
1. O.S drive 120 gig xp/vista
2 storage drive 300 gig
3 storage drive 320 gig ubuntu(8.04 hardy heron)
all are sata drives
for some strange reason my pc BSOD yesterday so i went to restart it and it said no O.S found,so I tried the vista repair but it couldnt find an O.S,booted into linux and it showed the the partitions on the O.S drive but could not access them, the only thing that gparted would do is let me delete them.
So I went to re-install and hit a problem,xp could not install due to problems with the MBR on drive 3(linux drive) so I un plugged that drive and tried again.Same thing happened again only this time it said drive 2,it could read the partitions on there (page file as one drive and storage as another) but could not find a valid windows drive to install to,but i was not trying to install to that drive,Iwas trying to install on a different one.So I unplugged the 2 storage drives and just installed on drive 1
Now when I start my pc if I have either of the 2 storage drives plugged in and set to boot from the windows drive first then the comp freezes on the xp loading screen, but if i set to boot from linux first it will boot fine and it shows my partitions on my drives but cannot open them either
I do not want to have to re format them and start again as there is over 200gigs worth of music, vids
any ideas?
