Si I want to get a HD2900 but I'm new to this PCI-E let alone the connectors of the more powerful cards, My PSU doesn't have any PCI_e connectors and I need a new one but I want a powerful cheap new one, in this case also has no PCI-E connectors. I found this 4 pin molex to 6 pin PCI-E adapter (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=159192)

But the card has one 6pin socket and one 8pin socket, first of all what is the 8pin for does it need to be filled? If it does need to be filled would one 6pin in the 6 pin connector and one in the 8 connector be OK? thus leaving 2 left from the 8 pin? or what?

Do NOT get a cheap PSU!!!! especially if you are considering a 2900!!!!

^^ What this man said. It doesn't necessarily have to be a 1kw unit, but as long as its decent quality and 500w or above, you should be fine.

Also don't go using those converter cables, just grab a native 8-pin psu.

I don't have the money.

They run without the 8 pin no problems, so not to worry.

I'd get a good quality PSU for that card, or don't even bother buying one at all

Just to confirm though, that you do need at least 2x 6pin connectors or 1x 8pin connector for it to work.

1x 6pin wont do it.

So I need two 6pin cables?
