Ocing a 1090T BE

Hey guys,

Need to overclock my AMD X6 1090T Black Edition to 3.8-4GHz, My mobo is currently a ASUS Crosshair IV, and my cooler is a NorthQ Siberian Tiger Water Cooler. Im a noob at overclocking and I've only used AMD Overdrive to get it to 3.66 GHZ. What clock settings would you guys recommend? And is there any software better than AMD Overdrive?

Thanks in advance

try using the bios to overclock, it will be more stable. im using a 1090t clocked at 3.8ghz atm. im using stock volts to attain this with only a small voltage increase to obtain 4ghz, your cooler should be more than adequate.

try to see what you can get using stock volts in the bios, most seem to get 3.6-3.8 easily on stock. after that you have to up the volts. i cant say what volts you need given the silicon lottery.

also with amd chips northbridge overclocking is said to give good results, i cannot say this from experience as i haave never tried it but i was planning to try it either today or tomorrow so post if i find much improvement.

Cheers for the quick reply,

What are your figures at the moment? I've never done bios Oc'ing so it will be a experience

decided to do a quick northbridge overclock just to see the effect, i'm quite impressed i did a moderate oc of 400mhz making the frequency 2400mhz from its stock 200mhz. that was at stock nb volts and upped my 3dmark 11 physics/cpu score by 250 points.

I hear that for the northbridge on these chips 2600-2700 is optimum but i dont currently have the time to test something thats needs an overvolt.

and as for figures, do you mean specific benchmarks? if so just post some benchmarks you want to see. I'll be happy to post scores for you sometime tomorrow after i have a chance to bench.

if your lazy you can always just google the bios settings for your cpu and mobo, rog supports that i think

This is all you will need

Ok guys, thanks for the help, been fiddling around with the settings in bios for a few hours. Got a stable 3.8GHZ OC, but I want 4GHZ
sad.png
Current settings im using is 16x Multiplier and 237 FBS. All other stuff like voltages and things are on auto, could I reach 4GHZ if I fiddle around with them? And what voltages would be required?

Temps are decent also atm, 56-57C while folding

EDIT: Nm, fiddled around and adjusted some stuff, can now safely say I've hit 4Ghz

Still need some help on tweaking my OC guys
biggrin.png
its still unstable
sad.png

Current settings in BIOS:

Multiplier of 20

VDDA Voltage is at 2.8, all other stuff is set to "Auto"

CPU voltage is at 1.415

ok, my settings are 20x multi with 200 bus. 12x multi for the northbridge with 1.425v for vcore and voltage up 1 increment for northbridge. only change the northbridge once the 4ghz overclock is stable

i had a cooler like that my 1090T wouldnt be stable above 3.5Ghz with it i upgraded to a proper watercooling and my bro got a NH-14 on his too and mines running at 4.1Ghz and his 3.8Ghz stable.

i would change the cooler if you want to OC i could OC with it but after about 30mins of prime95 it was hitting 65C and then became unstable.

Think im having the same problem, goes above 65 then bluescreens after a while

don't think i'll be OCing this chip anytime soon.

1.481 - 1.5v

20x200 or 250x16

NB 1.3v

CPU/NB 1.35v

CPU/NB 2.8-3.0GHz

CPU LLC enabled

CPU/NB LLC enabled

Both spread spectrum options disbled

Cheers for the specs, but I've spent 3 days tweaking settings

It's always unstable

More cooling needed I think

what volts on the CPU? you need at least near 1.5v for 4GHz+

I get 4 on my Phenom 965. Had it up to 4.2 before if i massively put the voltages up.

To get 4, I go:

Multiplier = 18.5

FSB = 216

Lock DRAM to 1333, but due to the overclock that will be around 1450mhz.

Then CPU Voltage - 1.45

CPU NB (i think) - 1.25

And I put my RAM to 1.55, but that will be completely dependent on your type of RAM.

The main issue you'll see is if you lock the RAM to 1600mhz because Phenom processors cant handle those speeds well enough.

This will obviously be dependent on your chip as they are all different, but it's worth a try

I used your settings from the AMD Oc thread, got around 80C+ when folding. Would a 3.8Ghz OC be possible with my current cooler?

I have a 4GHz overclock and I get 55C under Prime95 - I would say wait till you get a better cooler.
