Hi, i just joined this team and the forum, never done any folding, but this team seemed the logical choice, as i

enjoy TTL's videos so much.

All,

I am new to team. I saw on the overclock3d web site about the Folding at Home and read about. My Sisters 20 month old came down with Leukemia about 3 weeks ago. I was in the process of building a new computer for my kids which I have in the kitchen. After reading more about Folding at Home, I decided to do some folding. I have one machine in the basement that is folding and I use the new computer in the kitchen for folding during the night. I was trying to doing folding on my laptop which is running Ubuntu but it is so slow that I gave up. Jobs were just taking days to complete and I can’t get it to use more than 20% of the cpu. I have tried everything and just gave up.

When I started folding the group was ranked #51 and now we are at #50. I am slowly moving up in the ranks and right now I am ranked 111 within our group. I don’t really care about the ranking just hope that we make a difference in the long run.

Matt

Welcome to the team, Matt. Sorry to hear about your niece. I sincerely hope she will do fine and make it through her illness. If you need any help or have any questions about folding we are here.

I noticed that gpu folding was crashing on me. I updated to the latest nvida drivers and now all is fine. Every once in awhile the folding will crash. It seems to crash about once every two days. Any tricks that I should know about?

If you have oc`ed the gpu,you could back down the oc a little. But its a common problem that gpu-folding is chrashing now and then.

Just read through the backlog of conversation; that was fun

I'll try my best to get my pc folding a little later today - be prepared for some nooby questions to be asked!

All set up - getting an amazing 7,000 ppd from my laptop (I know, don't be jealous now) and 31,000 from my 3770k - i'll try my best to keep the ol'PC on, but my laptop's doing it's very best to imitate a '747 at present, so I fear that shall have to be turned off.

A query; it seems strange that the bigadv thingymabob is only available on Ubuntu (ok, fair enough) and OSX (wait, wut?). Any rumours on if and when the Windows version will released?

Thankyou to you all

Edit: upon some further research, it would seem as though my 3770k would not be up for the bigadv task

nevermind that, then.
