OC3D Toolbar

Hi guys , firstly if this is not the correct forum please move it accordingly.

Currently i am working on OC3D toolbar project and wanted to hear your thoughts on this.

The toolbar will look pretty much like google's toolbar. What would you like to see on the toolbar.

Currently this is the line up

OC3D logo | Search | Popup Blocker | News | Reviews | Guides | Forums | Gallery | Your Account | OC3D Network | Bookmark Us | About US

News, Reviews, Guides, Forums, Your Account, OC3D network , About us will have sub items.

Would you like to see icons on the menu , just text or both icon and text.

Toolbar will have 2 version 1 for IE and 1 for Firefox and possibly create light versions and loaded versions later on.

It will be fully skinnable under XP and can be uninstalled easy within toolbar itself and of course no spyware or anything like that.

So whats your thoughts?

Thats excellent Tec!. That would certainly be a great addition :D

I was thinking about seeing how to do a skin for Xfore or a widget for Yahoo Toolbar :)

Can't wait to see it, Tec!

I can work on any of the gfx needed for it if you'd like :). Feel free to contact me w/questions or w/e.

Nick

Hi guys , thanks for the inputs.

Nick: You can post the graphics in here so we can all vote on which ones we should use. However there is a slight problem with using images on the toolbar and thats the skins. If end user is using different color combination e.g light colour background with darker icons or vice versa it shows white corners around the icons. Just like forum icons.

What we can do is have few different versions.

E.g Basic text toolbar

with icons suitable for lighter skins

and with icons suitable for darker skins.

Let me know what you think.

Hm... well will this toolbar be for Firefox or IE? Prolly firefox.

Just make it the colour of the toolbar, or allow it to change colours and I'll make transparent logos. Won't be as fancy but they'll work.

This is just a small update and few screenshots of early version.

Below screenshots are from Firefox version and its to give you an idea how it will look like. Currently there are no icons , just text only.

Looking nice Tec. Are u able to add the OC3D rss feed to the toolbar as part of the default install?

Looking nice! :) Could you possibly add the "Who's Online" thing to the forums section? I use it to keep me logged in when I'm playing games and it's handy that it keeps refreshing itself.

Do you mean link to "who is online" page ?.

Just an update on the toolbar:

There is a slight problem with OC3D RSS feed or the way we use our news section. As the title links to source of the news so as rss feed link so when it appears on the toolbar and clicked it will goto source side bypassing oc3d alltogether. It works on reviews section so we need to have separate source link maybe in the news itself and have news title get its url in our system.

or separate the news into two categories web news, oc3d news.

Also having a problem with firefox pop-up blocker and toolbar options so they will only work in IE and not on Firefox.

Added E-mail function so you can add multiple email accounts and it will auto show how many emails you have , 1 click and you are in your email box.

IE version has toolbar options where you can disable anything you dont like and it wont show at all. So i ll probably fully load the IE version so it will be upto user to enable disable features.

Firefox version will have different versions.

Here is the beta version guys , test it out , see what you like , what you dont like .

IE Version :

http://upload.overclock3d.net/download.php?id=217&view=1

Extract the file and run the installer.

Firefox Version :

Attached below. Overclock3D_Firefox.zip

Save the file somewhere and extract the .zip file. Open your firefox browser , goto File > Open File and point to .xpi file.

As stated before IE version has toolbar option under first OC3D link , you can enable , disable any of the toolbars from there.

Both versions updates automatically unless you choose not to.

As always no spyware or nothing. You are welcome to check for any spyware, virus etc etc.

I left the Firefox version same as IE version at the moment , some of the stuff will not work for Firefox version , there will be additional handy mini toolbars to follow up once everyone is happy with the main toolbar.

Examples of mini toolbars.

E-tailers Links toolbar - All Countrys hardware stores - List is completed.

Shortcuts to most used programs in your pc and option to add your own.

RSS Reader and option to add your own feeds.

Toolbars created from online tutorials, effectivebrand free toolbar builder and few other utilities.

Detailed information will be released with the proper release.

Enjoy.
