Any of you guys live in Austin? I'm off there for a week with work November so, if you're in the area and want to hook up for a beer let me know!!

:wavey:

Funny enough, I'll be in 75058 in november. From about 20th onwards. Staying til sometime after thanksgiving.

Be kinda at the mercy of the family I'm staying with mind.

Longhorn fillet steaks, preferably from TLC. U have no idea what steak is until u had them.

None of this steak flavored chewy floor-cloth stuff in the UK. Although Welsh black fillet is pretty good.

Spent some time in Florida a while back....and can remember the steaks very well!!!! Roll on November so I can get myself some beef minus the connotations!!

Texas - Land - & - Cattle.

One time I ordered 10oz and the other person had 8 I *think*. Course she never ate it all, so I ate hers too :p

I swear I had something akin to a beef overdose l8r outside. It felt very much like it.

10oz? Dont waste my time, I dont order steak unless its over 18oz's.

The place I normaly go for my rump steak fix i get the 24 oz'er cooked rare with blue cheese sauce, none of this lady portion stuff :D

hehe u mean as opposed to beached-whale-syndrome ?

U can get that anywhere. Typically I get that from chinese or indian.

The object here is the quality of the beef.

18 oz of beef flavored washing-wrag aint exactly the same.

You just need a good local butcher dude.... Supermarket = no no

Hamiltons on the IOW have shops and supply to the trade, once you know where to go and eat its fine.

Steak in the US is superior to ours my quite a margin even if from a quality butcher.

Went to Smith & Wollensky's in Vegas last year and it was amazing steak. Paid for a really nice type of 12oz fillet steak (can't remember what it was called) but it was something else. Think it had cajun spice on it too.

Only time I've had a steak that came close over here was in one of Ramsey's restaurants, Maze Grill. Very nice and not too dear either.

Yeah the butchers over here do have some quality beef-flavored-dish-rag.

But it's still beef-flavored-dish-rag in the majority. Welsh black fillet is about the decentest I've found.

As mentioned above, we're talking about proper steak.

Even the cheapest of mexican establishments do a very good steak. They often put cheese on it.

If u really want beached whale syndrome, order a chicken-fried-steak. Fat content off the scale and the steak is steak-meat.

In the days b4 "Aberdeen Angus" became the real buzz-word in the uk for anything that commercially was meant to be good, maybe 10/15 years ago, Bird's Eye actually made a heart shaped burger-esq pack, containing 2, that came very very close to a quality tasting steak meat. It was withdrawn after a number of months. I honestly think they made it too high in quality to sell at an expected price.

Then again, u can't get half pound burgers over here anymore either. U generally get a 1/4 pound chewed-beef-flavor-rag with onions, trotter, **** and 'some herbs'. I'm not aware of any good burgers being sold in the uk atm.

H8 to say it, but they have very very good lamb too.
