Yeah the butchers over here do have some quality beef-flavored-dish-rag.
But it's still beef-flavored-dish-rag in the majority. Welsh black fillet is about the decentest I've found.
As mentioned above, we're talking about proper steak.
Even the cheapest of mexican establishments do a very good steak. They often put cheese on it.
If u really want beached whale syndrome, order a chicken-fried-steak. Fat content off the scale and the steak is steak-meat.
In the days b4 "Aberdeen Angus" became the real buzz-word in the uk for anything that commercially was meant to be good, maybe 10/15 years ago, Bird's Eye actually made a heart shaped burger-esq pack, containing 2, that came very very close to a quality tasting steak meat. It was withdrawn after a number of months. I honestly think they made it too high in quality to sell at an expected price.
Then again, u can't get half pound burgers over here anymore either. U generally get a 1/4 pound chewed-beef-flavor-rag with onions, trotter, **** and 'some herbs'. I'm not aware of any good burgers being sold in the uk atm.
H8 to say it, but they have very very good lamb too.
