NZXT Phantom radiator support

I have an NZXT Phantom. The original, not the 410 or 820.

The roof supports a radiator and I am going to put a 3x140mm there. I've already measured and if it somehow can't fit, that's what modding is for.

My question arises when it comes to the bottom. There are 2 sections with holes punched in them for air circulation, but they look too small and spread out for a radiator to go there.

At the same time, I desire to put a 2x140mm radiator there.

Picture for an idea of where I'm talking about.

What would be a good way to go about doing this?

Options I can think of include:

Cutting out more holes for more air circulation.
Setting up a elevated section so that the Radiator has more room to get air through it.
Using a smaller radiator.

Not sure if there's anything else I could do.

I figured it'd be something like that. This should be fun.

Then I will cut out a section of metal around those two punch outs a few millimeters shy of the size of my radiator and put on a rad grill. Simple enough.

Thanks for the help Tom. Keep doing what you are doing, because it's awesome. :)

Alright, that makes more sense.

This is my first water cooling/modding build, so bare with me if I don't seem to know obvious things. I've been trying to learn from your videos, particularly with Orca, and other modder's (The Singularity Computers guy is an example) on Youtube.

One other question then:

I like bigger fans as that usually means they can turn slower making less noise and still move a good amount of air, but at the same time, 20 mm doesn't seem like it would be enough to make a difference. A difference would be more obvious when jumping from 120/140 to 200/230mm fans.

So, in your opinion, is the jump from 2x120mm to 2x140mm worth the extra money? I've noticed 140mm rads are like £18-£25 more expensive than 120mm's.

Will do.

I have a thread in the "Project Logs" called "My first water cooling build." If you are interested in updates, go there.
