NZXT Phantom 360 Top Roof Mod

yesterday i spend most of the day constructing and cutting out a new piece so that my 360 rad would be higher, and the fans would be higher to. this also was a safety thing as my rad was only being held on by 4 screws ](*,) and i would rather it not end up breaking off. I had to take the fan controller out so i dont have one of them now, but i will be getting a 3 pin to 3pin x 4 splitter so all of my radiator fans will be on there, and the others just plugged directly into the motherboard. i also had to take all of my front pannel connectors out, which frankly i dont care about because i never EVER use those, the USB's are slow, the head phone and mic jack have a heap of feedback when i use them... and who uses eSata these days? so meh, out it came ! i think i did quite a good job, and as you can see. i do need to clean the perspex a bit, i had a huge sheet out in the shed i may as well have used, its been there for years ! haha, when i get all of my other parts from 3 different countries \

/ i will be doing an entire mod to my whole setup, we shall see how it all turns out

Yeahp, its a pretty tight squeeze with the fans on there, and i had to grind a bit of the under side of the roof so it would all fit, but hey. you cant see it right?

There will be 120mmx25mm phobya Red Led fans in the rad in a few weeks when my shipments arrive, and everything will be sleeved, am getting a 90 degree fitting for the ATX connector cos i hate the look of it being vertical >.< some new water cooling stuff: Tubing (7/16), Fittings (1/2) new block, some 45 degree fittings, mayhems die, sleeving modding kit, but yeah. you get the idea. it will look a bit different

Will be getting IVY Bridge when it comes out, or i may just get a Phenom 980 then get ivy bridge next year, not too sure yet !

below are the pictures of how it looks now

Let me know what you think

Yup, top fits on still, JUST. i had to grind down a few things so that it would fit, just some screw mounts needed to be grounded down to nothing

Fan controller is too big, and will not fit in with the radiator where it is.

I like it where it is because now i can easily take out the motherboard, and change the ram without the hassle of taking the rad out, where as now. everything is much more easy

I like the idea but deffo think the tops needs to go back on IMHO.

Just looks like its half done otherwise :/

oh no no no Tom ! the top is definitely on it
biggrin.gif
its just, how can you see the beautiful work with the top on it? i only took it off to show the concept on photo, the top is of course on now
smile.gif

I am glad you like it

There are the photo's i just took, maybe i should have put them on before haha, but yeah. Top fits fine

aaalso, i will be putting two plates over where the fan controller was (the notches in the top pannel) getting the fan controller icons off, putting a pannel where the front headers are, and painting both the plates matte black, for a more professional looking job
biggrin.gif

Hmmm Tom, would putting a but of mesh in there really going to do that much of a difference? its certainly an idea though !
biggrin.gif
i will look into it

Thanks SPS

the molex plug on the back of the fan controller would prevent it from going in place. One of the reasons I dont have a fan in that position on my phantom. though I have 3 on the bottom and 2 on the top. I didnt really want to mod the top out too much, and I can still get to everything in my case if needed. looks much better with the top btw

Tom - nope, otherwise i would have put it back in there, there is no chance whats so ever of it being able to fit in there unortunately. But i'd rather have the rad there than the fan controller imo

Alien - Well said

thankyou for your input !

And so my shipment arrives ! just the sleeving left to arrive, and i will be buying a Phenom 980

Not really bothered for a build log, so here are pictures of me doing some bleeding of my rig, all is well ! no air bubbles, leaks. great water flow. Using Distilled water, Mayhems biocide, and Mayhems Red Dye. 6 drops i think ! it really is concentrated.

Mayhems Dye should be a product that ComputerLounge should import, way better than feser products as reviews have told me !

Yeah, so even with Distilled Water i even managed to get some Gunk ](*,)

I managed to be clever and mount my old fan controller on the back, so now its a lot easier to manage my fans

Yes, the fan controller mounting was the only place where it would go as it would not fit in the top with my rad mod

and YUP ! rofl, some may call it magic. or some may call it an HX750w hiding in the corner

Fan controller could be modded into the top at the back on the other side to the mesh if you wanted it to be easier to change the fan speeds.
