Hi guys :)

Does anyone know if the NZXT Kraken X62 cooler will fit into a CM Storm Trooper case (top)? Their site says 280mm rads will but I just want to make sure before I purchase the X62.

Thanks.

Have you looked at your case? look for the 140mm mounting holes.
I have, mounting holes are there it's just I've come across mixed reports, some people say it will fit others say it won't??? Some say the rad will fit but not with the fans on it, not enough clearance from top to where the top of the mobo sits.

In my Fractal R4 with an H100i, when I had that case it was a very tight fit. So tight that I could only get it in if I installed it first.. so what I did after everything was already installed, instead of using the 120mm holes, I just used the actual grill holes. It worked out for me. I was able to move it closer to the left of the case which allowed me enough clearance over the motherboard vrm heatsinks instead of risking bending it.. Could try that?

Got the X62 installed today, just about! Looks the part I have to say and you can't hear it at all :) Temp wise I'm not too impressed with it, it's very close to what my CM V8 air cooler did, maybe I haven't got it setup quite right or I was expecting too much lol. Either way I'm very happy with it and that "infinity mirror" on the pump is pure class :cool:

How are yo finding the noise levels? I know AIO generally have higher noise outputs
What noise level :D. I honestly can't hear a thing from it, it's unreal.

I done a custom tuning setting for it, I have a DC i7 4790K running at stock (may OC at some stage);

  • Custom Fan Control Mode with Temp Ctrl set to CPU
  • Pump Control Mode set to Fixed Mode with Pump Speed set to 65% (thanks for tip TTL)

Temps are not bad now with the custom tuning;

  • Idle 22 - 26C
  • Gaming with BF1 maxed out running on a Strix GTX 1060 @ 1920 x 1080, 34 - 38C
  • Full load 44C

Temps using my old CM V8 air cooler (it's a great cooler), idle was round 26 - 28C, gaming 38 - 44C, full load 48 - 56C.

Overall I very happy with the X62, certainly an improvement temp wise and a 100% improvement with noise levels. It's my first AIO cooler so I can't compare it to another one but I won't be going back to air after this.

You aren't noticing great temp improvements because you aren't stressing the CPU enough even with the air cooler, so it won't bring it down much. Once you OC, that's when it'll pull ahead alot:)
