NZXT H440 vs CM Storm Trooper

Goal in mind: SILENCE

With that being said, i am aware that the H440 is covered with sound dampening foam inside whereas the Trooper isnt.

However, it's not hard to buy that kind of foam at an auto store.

The question at hand: Can you cover the Trooper with enough foam inside to make it somewhat less noisy? Anyone did it to their Trooper?

I had a trooper and tbh, it's pretty loud. If you want silence: Get the H440.

If you buy the Trooper, you'll have to swap out the stock fans cause they are pretty erh... bad. That said, the H440 is an overall better case with watercooling support and the panels that'll cover your HDD and PSU areas.

I really like the Trooper's look, but the H440 looks really, really great too for it's toned approach.

I was going to buy a lot of Corsair SP/AF120's anyway. The problem is the availability of the H440 Razer Edition. Dammit :/

I built a h440 for a mate and that thing is stupid quiet. If i did ot have plans for my c70 id defo swap it over. Very attractive very moddable and silent.

Which one would be then? At the moment I have the H440, but would be more than happy to change again. Wasnt a big fan of the Fractal though.

If it was silence above all then the Fractal (and the Nanoixa Deep Silence 1/2) would win. I'm also pretty sure the BeQuiet! case is quieter as well.

With the Define R5 I don't like the moduvent system. I plan on having two AF fans in the top pushing the air out. I would have to take out two of the plates there and the noise would come out through there.
With the H440 you have this always covered.
There are some other minor things with the R5 and the H440 covers them up for me, so here the H440 wins over R5.

As for Nanoxia cases, I will have to look into that because I totally forgot about them (I did consider the DS5 in one build some time ago) but I will need to check the DS1 or the DS6 cause only they meet my expectations from what I saw in the last couple minutes.
Although in the case of DS'es I would need to open up both of the vents permanently and here the H440 looks way better.
Again, H440 wins over the DS1/6

Be Quiet! Silent Base 800? I can't get past some of it's flaws from what I've seen on YT.

remember300 already wronte in this thread that the H440 is 'stupid quiet'. So, with all the pros of this case over the other ones I can clearly see my only option.

Maybe someone can make a different point though. Maybe I don't need to open up these top vents on the DS1/6?

I see, I was actaully thinking of getting the Nanoxia Deep Silence 6 to replace my NZXT Switch 810.
Its pretty cool. ;)

If you're running AF/SP fans at a low RPM you'll barely hear them. Obviously if you're going to run a rig with loud fans and loud GPUs then you'll be screwed whatever. Just sounds that you're more fussed about looks over everything else, which I totally understand as that is what I've done.

I'd also look at the Phanteks Enthoo line.

For some reason when i look at Nanoixa Deep Silence too me it looks like Fractal cases but than it might just be me :D

I've always felt that the Nanoxia cases were of much better quality compared to the Fractals. Though that is not to say that the Fractals arent brilliant as well. They just werent really my cup of soup.

I do plan on running all of the fans at low RPM. The GPU will be the ASUS 970 STRIX.
About the looks: I can't see myself using the DS1/6 open vents in the top of the case. Plus it gives that feeling that ther will be more noise coming out of there than there will be through the vents of the H440.

If I am going to sacrifice a few (I presume 1-3) decibels by using the H440 over DS1/6 then I am willing to go for the NZXT case.

You do realize sound travels through the window as well, right?

Heh, that might be the only problem I have with the H440. But here I still rely on remember300's answer on the previous page.

I won't see the window anyway if it will stand where my current case is - however I may see the top of the case which is why the Nanoxia solution doesn't suit me.

What's more, the vents on the H440 will be facing 'away from me'.
