Nvidia SLI Question

Thanks... I didn't know there were such things as active and passive adapters.

I will have to order the active one from Newegg I guess :)

I know you need an active one for eyefinity, not sure about nvidia though. Might be worth checking

Yeah I am reading that too. I did read that some guy used it with his iGPU displays. The problem is that people are complaining about screen flickering.

I might just have to bite the bullet and redo my pain in the ass wiring...remove the dvi cables from the side monitors and replace with hdmi and displayport wires and run them natively to the output ports on the iGPU.

FYI, my monitors support dvi, vga and displayport. So I can run my native displayport wire and one hdmi to dvi wire.

Hey I'm back again. I have been researching and people have problems getting igpu to work on the asus motherboards when a GPU is inserted.

I was thinking of a GTX 770 for the physx...good choice?

Fine a GT630 otherwise :)

I have always run a third gpu (earlier a gt610) for my side displays, so it doesn't give any problems.

But it doesn't help either, so you're just wasting money tbh.

Money is not an issue...and this machine is going to be used for a few hours everyday at the max...purely gaming. I just want the best of the best with full eye candy. :)

I rather have everything running off one driver rather than enable nvidia and intel drivers...and what I read on the forum really scared me. I am good but not great with computers and stuff. I rather just use my spare time for gaming without dealing with issues...life is full of other more important issues anyway :)

I just want to destress from work and game a bit before my wife pulls me away from the computer :)

So you're more of the 'The more money I throw at my PC, the better it will work' type of person? Well, it just doesn't work that way :p

What about trying it with your dual 780s and then if you're not satisfied with the performance (which I highly doubt) you can always add a dedicated PhysX card later, although I can guarantee you that it won't add anything to the performance that you already have.

The 780 is a beastly card, let alone if you run 2 of them. They will handle anything you throw at it more than fine :)

I completely agree with you about the little to no benefit from the additional physx card.

I was more concerned about my side monitors

As mentioned, running everything with just one driver (nvidia) should be a smoother experience.

I love how you convince to spend less... my wife will recommend more friends like you for me :)

Could you not run one display as an accessory display? - http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/how-to-correctly-configure-geforce-gtx-680-surround#3

I am unsure if you can have an accessory display alongside a single monitor setup as opposed to a surround setup, but if money is no object that's what I'd do. PhysX cards make no sense.

Have you thought about building a second computer for your side displays?

Haha... I actually did. :) That way my game doesn't exit to desktop if I switch to another screen while gaming :)

I am using a single monitor along with 2 accessory displays.

Now that I think about it...maybe I can build another cheap PC on the side :)

Keep you posted. BTW, I appreciate all your help.

This might sound REALLY dumb because I'm slowly just getting back into gaming rigs after not having one for years but can't you just run all three monitors off a single GPU.

All I remember is I used to run two from my old HD4780, and in properties, just set the displays to...fuck I can't remember LOL! It wasn't extended, what was the other one? Lol this is what happens when you game on consoles.

Hey, so I went the GTX 650Ti route

Its too hot these days in my office for my to run any overclocks...running everything at stock for a couple of months.
