Nvidia Price Drops

I'm kind of torn, the 780 is getting very tempting now. Especially if its price comes down a good bit. But yet at the same time, having a Mantle-supported GPU I think is probably a good idea, even if features that only support one GPU line have a history of failing eg. PhysX.

Hmmm... decisions, decisions.... I'll probably hold off until early next year though, the regular R9 290 with a custom cooler is probably what I'll go for if the price is right.

If the 780ti is just an overclocked ref 780 with a lager VRAM pool and $700 price tag then the 290x (possibly xfire) with waterblocks is definitely in my sights come the end of November. Should the 290x get to $499 because of these cuts then for once I will praise nVidia for lessening the burden on my wallet!

However, I do wonder if these cuts will eventually get the 780s & waterblocks/backplates to under £1k. Definitely worth pondering that's for sure. Haven't been on team green since the 6800 Ultra days; and people complain about drivers from AMD... you'd have loved the 'geforce experience' back then.

The specs are out there if you look, the Ti has another ~192 shaders and is about 150Mhz quicker but otherwise it's very similar - certainly you could overclock a regular 780 and get very similar performance.
