Nvidia leak???/

This was mostly unexpected, but then again, AMD have been waving their big red flag all over the Internet in the last few days due to the leaked AMD Radeon HD 7970 performance and specs. Today, we have PCINLIFE leaking an NVIDIA slide, that shows the difference in performance between their current single-GPU hero, the GeForce GTX 580 versus the GeForce GTX 780.

Say what? GeForce GTX 780?? Not GTX 680? Yes!

Remember: This is just a leak, rumor, so TweakTown advise that you're up-to-date with your grains of salt and skill levels of pinching it.

I read this, and i just flex.

Its like that last second TD for the game winner. Or a quite man shutting up the overly S*** talking d-bag who has no clue what hes doing (; (If proven to be true)

This just makes me so happy to be a proud Nvidia fanboy. Because god knows AMD needs to be slapped around a bit after what they did.

Yeah, this slide has been out a while now, don't know what to make of it to be honest because Nvidia haven't even got any 28nm sample cards out yet so it's strange how they could have performance results but no actual cards.

This slide was also released the same time as the 7970 slides were being leaked as well, Nvidia hasn't said anything about what the next series will be or released any specs so it makes me wonder why they would release this slide showing the performance of a card that is 4-6 months away but not give out specs and performance on the cards that are being released earlier.

It could be legit but I personally doubt it.

well I saw it first time today and was like really hmmmm.... but as I read more I noted it was just a rumor for now might just be their anticipation on it who knows but with all the AMD fanboys creamin themselves over the 7k series I wanted to limp their noodle a tad

I'll be creamin myself just as much over the Nvidia cards when they come out, it's just at the moment AMD has a beast of a card with the 7970 and it's insane overclocking. If the 7950 is the same as the 7970 for overclocking thats going to be amazing as well.

I just love to see mad performance and new tech I don't mind what name is on it

nothing new here... i read this a while back didnt think anything of it... nvidia does this for marketing... the common noob will be like ooooh 780gtx must be so much faster then a 680 because number is bigger!...... anyway they did the same thing for the 400 series skipped right over the 300... and left the 300 for some moblie gpus which didnt last very long

Nvidia are like Apple for the graphics cards, they very tight lipped at times about new cards but if that slide proves to be true then we have a war

I wonder if those are projected results...Either way, I hope that by the time I build a new PC in Q3 later this year that nVidia have their 600/700 series out, especially if the performance is anywhere near 2x faster than a GTX580. We could be on the way to seeing longer graphics card longevity because I definitely don't see many games on the horizon which will need much more than a 580, at 1080p anyway. And if the temperatures are lower to boot, maybe we might get some very powerful passively cooled card solutions.

I think they leaked this on purpose. They just had to show something performance related now that people are going to buy the 7970

exactly my point lol stops the masses in their tracks for a few to show whats coming to again toss out that "should I wait scenario" flag again lol I agree Jerome I'm thinking 6oo series will be mobile units as done in the past.

Or just rebranded 5 series.

Maby we'll get 7xx then a refresh called 8xx, then 9xx will be mobile Kepler GPU's, then we get a new line of name style with MAXWELL (any suggestions nVida has a Youtube page comments section GTX bla bla bla blabble gobbly goouch)

im just going to clear this up, and keep in mind for most of you this is an entirely redundant statement. However, when they say there skipping the 600 series they mean in model number not product line. This is still the same card it would have been if they called it a 680, there just slapping a 780 model number on it for marketing. They are by any means skipping a generation of video cards. this is just a number jump like the 200 series to the 400 series.

again i know this is a completely redundant statement for 99% of the forum.
