When you create something you are allowed to prptect what you have created. nVidia doesn't say that Samsung and Qualcomm can't you use the patents, but they must have payed, it just isn't fair when you invent something and someone else uses it without giving you meritorious reward.

The IP they use is licensed from ARM or PowerVR... basically they didn't independently design it so why nVidia aren't going after the actual designers (especially ARM) is rather suspicious.

And to say nVidia owns the 'GPU' is to say whoever came up with the 'integrated circuit' owns all modern computer electronics. Stupid 'pending or no' patent is stupid

It didn't say that nVidia owns all GPUs, it just say that nVidia owns some very important patents, because they invented them, and it is wright to ask money for something you invented. It would be better if you made it free for everyone, but we all know that you won't make any money this way.

By going after (predominantly) Samsung mobile products it does seem nVidia wants a monopoly on smartphones/tablets in the US market. Would the K1 operate a bit too hot for a smartphone?

I really do hate all the stupid patent trolling occurring in recent years.

So their answer to not getting mobile design wins with Tegra is to become a patent troll and start trolling those who are getting the design wins instead?

Yeah, I don't you'll see it. Apple does use nVidia Gpus after all, so why should they accuse them? They don't use Qualcomm, they recently abandoned Smasung, so Appl are immune to possible causes from nVidia.

I think you missed the part where the poster said that they want to see it, they didnt imply that there was a reason to...

Though Tegra wasnt extremely successful, it does quite well in my Nexus 7 G2.
