Nvdia 8800 driver f**ked, new new gfx card.

Ive updated my gpu drivers and ever since then my gpu drivers also fail then recover 5 minutes later, this is so annoying when playing games, css run, left4dead seems to crash under 20 mins.. its all source games, also just wen using windows normaly. sometimes the drivers dont start working and i have to reset my pc to use it.. its so annoying, ive tryed rolling back drivers, downgrading drivers but nothing, if anyone knows of a QUICK fix, let me know.

now as for upgrades:

896MB XFX GTX 260 Black 55nm

1GB XFX HD 4870

1GB Sapphire HD 4870 Toxic

1GB XFX HD 4850

1GB Sapphire HD4890 OC

Bear in mind that money is the main issue, i dont need a major performance increase as my 1gb 8800gt was doing it for me..

i have to say im quite taken by the 4850 and the 4870 toxic, but i really cant afford to pay that much atm and i need the gfx asap.

im running 1680x1050 with max aa and af in css.. i need to be able to play cod4 and lotro and other games with dx10.. is the 4850 capable?

I play CoD4 with high settings (2*AA, no AF) at 1920*1200 so I'd say that 4850 is capable. Also I'd buy ATi just because nVidia failed on you this time

Did you try the usual like driver rollback or driver cleaner and then install the last version of the drivers that worked?

tryed normal rollback, then delete new ones and installed old ones.

20 mins or so failing on a gfxcard is generally the fan failing on it. Especially if the normal desktop seems to work ok. Either that or some fan settings aren't right, like they stay at 40% no matter what.

m8 of mine had the same last week with a XFX 8600 GTS, contacted XFX and they immediately mailed out a replacement fan foc.

its solved its the drivers.. ive tryed it on mates rig works fine.. i really cba unistalling drivers on my pc lol ill just get a 4870
