Now is finally the time (getting some new stuff)

So whats up OC3D peeps

This is my first post on here so i might not be the big writer
or getting everything lined up correctly, but let's get to it!
I'm finally gonna be upgrading some of my hardware.

My current build is the following.
CPU: i7 920 stock clocked @ 2.67 GHz
MOBO: Gigabyte EX58-UD4
RAM: 6GB Kingston 1333 MHz
GPU: Zotac GTX 650 2GB
HDD: Samsung 1TB 7200 rpm
PSU: Energon 750 watt (semi-modular)
CASE: Coolermaster CM690 Nvidia Edition
!EDIT! CPU COOLER: Corsair H70 running Push-Pull with 2 Corsair SP120 on quiet mode.

^ i know that my PSU isn't one that people particularly like that much,
but its been working fine for me

So what I'm thinking of replacing is the following
also I'm gonna be replacing the case.

CPU: i5 3570k
MOBO: Asus P8H77-I !EDIT! -> might be going with MSI Z77IA-E53 instead
just because i want to be able to OC a tiny bit.

Case: Bitfenix Prodigy

^ My PC has broken down sometime back when i accidentally spill a glass of coke
down the grills of my case, it just turned off immediately and ended up breaking
my gpu at the time. Also I'm kinda wondering if it might also have done some things
to the mobo or the cpu (not sure) since I'm feeling like its
not as stable as it used to be.

So i wanted to hear what you guys opinions are about the components i want to replace.
My thought is to buy them in about 2 weeks, but you might have some input that i could use.

Neways that's my rant.
r8msify out.

Looks good to me, but beware.

I'm assuming that you're running 3x 2GB memory dimms to use triple channel, but that new motherboard has only 2 slots. It's also the H77 chipset, so you can't overclock. If you don't plan to do that anyway, grab an i5 3450 or 3470.

And yes, I would definitely change your PSU as a next upgrade.

PS: Welcome to the forums :)

Thx for the quick answer, you're right about the memory, and i have thought about that. But seeing as im running a 32bit OS atm it wont make any difference. and i hadn't been researching about overclocking on different chipsets since i've never overclocked.

I'm quite happy to have gotten that input.

The memory should work but as above, you can only use 4gb. That's enough for a lot of tasks (as most games won't use more than that) but I started to get memory errors with only 4gb (like you I went from triple channel back to dual channel).

I'd recommend upgrading your RAM and/or OS too some time in the future. 4 GB just won't cut it anymore when you spend your time gaming, editing, or tweaking.

I've used the 4 gigs only for maybe 3 out of the 4½ year I've had the pc - since i bought the pc prebuild for me. So performance-wise i wont feel any difference. So that thing I've thought about. :)

That might happen some time in the future, but as of now, i don't feel it's needed.

I can't disagree mate, don't spend money on things that you don't need (yet) :)

But as said before, your set-up looks good but if you don't overclock, save yourself a few quid and get the i5 3450/3470. And definitely upgrade the PSU next!
