opps sorry that i put this in wrong bit too

well, this is my first post and it was dazboots that told me to come here for all my OCing and gaming needs so blame him

first since i'm starting out in the OCing world i would like to know about upping my CPU but staying on air for awhile... I've a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ and would like to up abit...

The questions are: how and what do i need to do this?? and where can i get some 'tuts' on this sort of thing????

I'm blaming this all on dazboots.... he goes on and on at work about OCing lol

Hope that helps you start. Most overclocking is done from the motherboard BIOS but it can pretty much all be done from windows too (as I'm sure the guides mention).

To get better clocks you might want to invest in better cooling (I'm sure some others will recommend some good air cooling as it's not my forte ). Watercooling is a quiet and efficient option and if you're feeling extreme you could get a phase unit. Both of the last two Phil sells in the products section.

3400 is that skt754?

Your overclock will be limited by the motherboard and cooling you have, water would be best as the 3400 kicks out a fair bit of heat - still a good CPU and should serv you well.

Dazboots is a pretty good mate to have at work - he knows his stuff.

I would personally go for the Vapochill Micro out of the two as it's lighter and you can get great performance with quiet fans.

One thing i would say about OCing is dont try to get everything right straight away, it is fun to learn some things for yourself and then come and get some pointers from more experienced people. Mistakes are often the fastest way to learn.

I think dazboots is gonna sort me out with a good cooling fan so, then i'll be able to OC the CPU a bit

and of course i wont dive in yet... just at the moment i'm collecting info about this sort of thing... also, i've got dazboots to guide me if i'm stuck
