Noisy fan

I've got a Gecube ATi Radeon 9550 card which came overclocked at stock to 425Mhz. That's all well and good but Gecube have an annoyingly noisy fan on it and as I use my computer a lot of the time for watching DVDs, it can be fairly distracting.

How easy/cheap is it to replace the fan with something that will be quieter?

arctic silencer's are very cheap and very easy to fit. not 100% aure they are available for your card but it won't hurt to do a bit of research. i recommend them

The arctic coolers are pretty quiet on the lowest setting, and a good design too.

Have you thought about running your card at less than stock speed when you're not gaming?

Is the fan variable then?

I've got no problem doing that as ATITool is great for tweaking, just wondering if the fan will automatically drop the revs.

AFAIK yes

There's a review here with the 9500

Sorry, I meant the stock fan.

I think becuase my card came overclosked at stock, they have put a propeller on it to cooll it down.

That silent pc site is really good though. Been getting ideas for a case.

the fan on my card was making noise aswell.. not sure why though i never really used it for games much or anything that used the card to its max.. it was pretty old anyway so just bought a new one
