Noisy AquaXtreme 50Z

Hmm, Getting really fed up with the hum noise my 50Z makes, I have made sure its padded nicely, even holding it off the case so it has nothing to vibrate with, and its still damn noisy! There must be something faulty with it, anyone here own a 50Z and can comment on the noise it produces? Mine is waaay louder than well anything in my case....

Sounds a bit odd, mine is very quiet! :p

Have you got all the bubbles out of the system, as they can be another cause of noise from the pump?

If so, is it a bit of a grinding noise?

right so i'll have to rma it... does it have to go to cooltechnica? First problems with my gpu block, then with this :( If its going all the way to the US thats going to mean lots of down time..

Your RMA should be with your original supplier yes - even then it may have to go back to the manufacturer for investgation.

EPUK are a stockist of these products - it never hurts to have a spare of such a critical item.

Sorry to here that ur has failed though - mine is fine also.

Just watched that VID - sounds like summit is broke (usually due to contamination) or stuck in it....... suggest you undo the 4 screws holding that black housing to the motor and inspect for contamination (best case) or pump parts (worst case).

It sounds like a factory in that video, I wouldn't leave it running like that! :O

If I remember right the actual rotor is sealed inside the black part, and when you undo the screws you get to the motor. With the D4/5 you could open it up and lube it, but I don't think you can with this one. I would pop mine open to check, but it's in an awkward part of the case :(

Its working fine mav tho, temps are low, water moves around loop - just noisy!

Should also add its been running like this (aka working but noisy) always.

Spoken like a true RMA request (up there with 'never been overclocked') ;)

It could be sealed but they do therefore consist of:

Backplate (with seal ir perm-a-seal)

stator (the thing that rortates and moves the water)

Housing (where the pipe are connected)

These units should never, ever (even when priming) be run dry as it voids your warranty and can cause permanent damage.

It's all well and good saying it works okay - I would not be running my rig unattended (especially overnight) with it sounding like that :O

Cheers

Fine, ill have to stop leaving my rig on 24/7 8) (no joke actually...)

Never been run dry. Only realised how loud it was now I removed a load of 80mm loud (aka screaming) fans from case.

Not sure if I should open it up tho, surely that voids my warrenty?

As long as there is no warranty stickers over the screws or joint, you should be able to open it without leaving a trace. Just make sure you use a good size screwdriver so you don't chew the heads ;)

Mines making a bit of nose but i have a feeling thats trapped air in there

I'd ether RMA to Phil or where ever or go at your self, come apart easy they do form what i seen on google

No warranty stckers on it - you need to be able to do it so that you can arrange the port direction when you set-it up ;)

Well Bruce (cooltechnica owner) contacted me, his suggestion was to open it - having spent an hour getting my watercooling out of case onto floor, emptying the loop, stripping pump down - I found nothing... Now all back together... Will have to RMA to phil...

Silly question but did you test it after having here apart?

Might of been something lose possibly?
