DOOGA DOOOOOON !

From the coils of ancient Asia came two warriors.... For many years battle had been a rumour, but this time it was for keeps..

Finally the battle would commence, and there would be one clear winner...

pic2.jpg

Our two warriors were pitted together in Mortal Kooling, a fight to the death !

TTL would use his latest weapon of death, the Noctua NH 14.

noctua14.jpg

Whilst the Alien would use his, the Corsair H50...

corsair.jpg

The two components levelled up, stared into each other's eyes and Alien fired his lazer eyes at TTL.

lazereyes.jpg

THE OVERCLOCKING HAD BEGUN !

TTL responded at once with his lighting eyes of cold fuzion..

tomlightning.jpg

Things got cooler, things began to freeze.. Even hell felt the chill as Alien started to crank on his front side bus. Things began to get hot... REAL hot...

fire.jpg

Alien was in trouble. His CPU was becoming hotter. TTL on the other hand was having no such problems.. With one final push he fired out his electric ice beams, finishing off the evil Alien once and for all..

tomelectric.jpg

The result came as no surprise. The wise warrior with experience won out. Bringing this epic battle to a conclusion...

Hell had frozen over, the battle was done...

Until next time..... BWAHAHAHAHAHA !

Well, why do i need a noctua. hmmmm could be because i am becomming deaf from my current fan noise and my computer is dying from heat.

my cpu is an E6420 @ standard 2.13 GHz, and that is just too slow for me.

hotrunnotcopy.jpg

So this first little pic is my idle temps. not really that good, and this is on a cold evening. room temp is around 16-17 degrees c if not lower.

hotruncopy.jpg

my pc running full load, i didn't dare to run it any longer as i dont wont to overheat it too much/long. it wasnt the first run in prime95,

i had run another 5-6 minuts but accidentally closed it :Sso all in all around 12 min of prime95 and those were my temps.

oh and BTW the fan is set to my fan controller, and running full speed all the time

the computer was cleaned not that long ago, and else it would be running a lot hotter with all the dust and so on. I have really been scared that my pc

would burn down in the extreme hot sommer we had this year.

so as you might see i really need a new cooler. Some time ago i thought watercooling would be my only chance to control the temps. But it was too expensive

and i was afraid of leakage causing it to die. But then i found the NH-D14 review here, and realised it would be able to tame my pc.

I'm running my computer without a sidepanel, because that just adds to the heat, and that my pc wont handle.

also the sound levels are unbearable as you might be able to hear on this

okay maybe it is kind of hard to hear on youtube but the raw video is really noisy and so is the fan. it was bought with a kit to make it less noisy, but

it just doesn't make it silent enough. luckily i just bought a logitech G35, it can close out most of the noise. i can still hear it, but at least its less

noisy than when i used my steelseries siberia. the YouTube video really doesn't do [IRONY] justice to the noise levels [/IRONY].

this is a really bad cooler, dont even remember which one it is i think it is a Thermaltake Silent TR2, with a arctic cooling Alpine 7, and as you see it

performs bad, and the hotter the heatsink becomes the worse it gets, because the fan just blows the hot air down on the cpu

well i think that was about the biggest factors why i need the noctua, and if i win anything i hope for the NH-D14, but the NH-U12P but sadly i cant use but

my case is too small for the cooling set.

I would really like to overclock my cpu as i dont really think it performs well at the moment, and i have no overclocking headroom, as the temperatures

already are too high.

The NH-D14 is the greatest air cooler i've heard about, and it fits so many sockets, which makes it great, because even when you upgrade to another socket you can take it with you. and still get the

greatest cooling. and even doing it nice and SILENT

The NH-U12P is also nice give most of the same good stuff as the NH-D14, but i suppose it cools a little worse.

Both fans are great, actually NOCTUA make great stuff. and if i win the NH-D14 i could even have it with me in my next build when i get the money. And then

i would donate my cpu with the old cooler to hell and then thay would be sure hell wouldn't be afraid of freezing over anytime soon.

oh and a final note ;D . ever since i've seen this video, i am afriad SWAT will break into my house

seizing my pc as the cause of Global warming, they might even drag me into court on the count of "The hot summer of 2010"

and the NH-D14 might be my only chance not to face multiple lifetime sentences for all the hot summer days my pc has caused. NOCTUA and OC3D.net, is my only shot please save me.

But dont worry i am using my laptop now, just to save the enviroment

sorry for the long post, but if you read the whole thing trough and still are alive, then its all good

just a little more ;D

I keep cutting myself of the very inconvenient copper fins, in order to prevent self harm I need a new CPU cooler

EDIT: I'm not actually joking either, I usually have to sacrifice a bit of finger every time I want to remove the 4-Pin.

At least y'all have aftermarket coolers, poor old fraggypoo over here only has a stock AMD heatsink.

Awwwww poor me! Here's my entry even though I can't win.

Unfortunately, I don't have a camera for pictures, so here is my best description:

CPU-Athlon II X4 635 @3.3

Cooling-stock

Case-Raidnax Scorpio from 2003

I am only able to hit 3.3Ghz on my 635, mainly due to heat. The stock heatsink keeps the CPU at idle, with just the loading of CPU folding, at about 55* C, with load from Intel Burn test up to about 75* C. Not only is the stock cooler a bad performer, it is loud. At relatively no load, the fan spins at 5000RPM, and reaching 6000RPM under load. My case's four front 80mm intake fans are mostly choked off my cables and 5 hard drives, although I plan on switching to an Antec 300 Illusion for better cable management, cooling performance, and upgradability (i.e being able to fit 140mm CPU coolers).

Hell had frozen over, the battle was done...

Until next time..... BWAHAHAHAHAHA !

Now that’s what I call vivid imagination

My i5 is only overclocked to 3.3GHz, yet in OCCT testing, in a 6 minute custom test, it hits 85 degrees.

The processor is lapped heavily.

The cooler is a Titan Fenrir.

I haven't had a cool CPU for years.

*Drools*......

I'm FINALLY getting a decent machine, part of which is a Phenom II X6 1090T (Other parts are - GB GA-890FXA-UD5, Sapphire HD5850 Toxic @ a pair of OCZ 4GB[2x2GB, 1600MHz 8-24] kits.

I was planning to overclock, but the only decent coolers at my disposal are either the overpriced CM ones, or the rather flimsy (and old) MUGEN II.

I've been eying the Noctua coolers for quite some time now, and not only do I LOVE the color scheme, but the whole unit seems to be of insane quality.

I've read countless reviews of the NH-U12P, and the more recent NH-D14 (I must say, though, that I like the NH-U12P more, as it is smaller, and size does matter to me
biggrin.gif
), and I just REALLY WANT ONE!

Sadly, the representative for Europe has yet to return an answer to my question about availability here in Bulgaria

This will be a GREAT opportunity for me to both get my hands on their awesome hardware, and not need to settle with other (inferior, imo) products.
