no sound

I own a gigabyte h81 mobo and one day the sound has stopped' no matter what I do nothing.

1. no it isn't on mute
2.both rear and front panel audio ports have no sound.
3. yes Iv checked settings
4. removed and reinstalled drivers
5. when i plug some thing into the ports may it be speakers or headphones the pc sees they have been connected.

6.installed itunes and i got a warning saying there is a problem with my audio play back.

Im running windows 8.1

are you using hdmi? it may have somthing to do with grafic drivers

did you try messing with the options in system sounds and mixer? some times when i mess up my friends pc when i put my head phones in i have do that.

Try a new cable? Could have just died or it was pinched badly causing it to not transmit the audio.

tried with 3 diff head phones and 2 diff speakers all work ...

I had an issue once with windows turning off the audio in the system setup disabling it. The only way to fix it was to go into services and find the windows audio section and start the service there. Go have a look and see if it is stopped

You can also set it up to automatically start at system start-up too so you don't have to always fix it.

I had it set up to do that, and magically once a month or so, it would fail to turn on?

says audio is on so i turned it off and restarted no luck maybe my audio chip is fooked
