No low power standby on Samsung LCD widescreens???

Hey board, it's been a long while since I've posted here, but I'm totally confused on whatever is going on with monitors lately. I bought a Samsung 24" 245BW LCD monitor and after working with it for 10 days, took it back because it wouldn't go into low power standby. They didn't have any more in stock so I was forced to downgrade to a Samsung 2233SW LCD 21.5" widescreen and stick an extra $95.00 in my pocket. At any rate, I got home installed the monitor, installed the drivers, tested the power settings and once again, no low power standby! What gives? I even did a repair install on Windows XP SP3 just in case it was a system setting corruption. I'm using two EVGA nVidia 8800GTXs in SLI and the low power standby worked fine on my previous monitor, a Samsung 204B 20". Any ideas what's going on? Thanks in advance...

Low power standby? *puzzled*

As far as I know the samsung monitors automatically go into the lowest power usage next to completely off when the monitor is not used. With my 2443BW this would mean about .5-1w usage.

i thought it was up to the pc to turn the monitor off? Or are you on about using the actual power button on the screen itself?

I mean when the computer shuts down the monitor but the LED is still on. When I'm away I always hit my accessoires switch, which means everything but my rig has its power cut.
