I've finally got around to building my second watercooled system.

Only I've struck a problem, when I boot up the monitor stays in standby mode everything else seems to be working.

Could anyone help? :@

What are the rest of your specs? Is there any indicator on the motherboard that everything is booting ok? Are the gfx correctly seated?

Pop your system specs in here bud - allow us to understand your rig more and perhaps we can be more helpful in our diagnostics :).

I think as long as the cards are the same it should be fine. Until we know what the system spec is, it's hard to help diagnose the problem :(

Asus A8N Deluxe Mobo

AMD FX55

1 GB Corsiar 3200XLL

2x XFX 6800GT cards

3x Weston Digital Raptor drives

PCP&C 510 Deluxe SLI power supply

I did manage to overheat the CPU after leaving it in the mobo with no cooler while testing. It hit the thermal limit and cut out. Could this have damaged something if so why does it still boot into windows.:?

nuh shouldnt hurt too much, you on stock? if not flash your mobo

Iv'e tried them on their own but no luck.

I do get the woman saying "system fail VGA" when I boot up.

How do I flash my mobo?

How would different ram help?

Sometimes its best to boot with 1 stick generic ram until you have flashed the bios however it does sound like a vga problem - you'd be highly unlucky to have to faulty vga cards though. have you tried the cards in a different computer?

Best bet would be to try the components in another computer. You will then be able to pin point the faulty component.

When you find the faulty component it can then be studied, at the moment there are just way too many variables! :O

i had this on my DFI NF4... turned out to be dead ram when i looked into those LED codes... gave no signal error... put in some corsair value and booted straight in... :)

Memory is often the common cause of such troubles. Do you have a spare stick of something lying around?

OK I've tried some other sticks memory but no luck, so the I checked the cards to see if the cooling blocks were seated properly, they wern't. Not even touching. I don't know how long a gfx chip can last without cooling but until I check them with another mobo I think they maybe dead.

Is there anyway of checking to see if they have any life?

Any suggestions. :(

If you replace the water blocks with the stock air coolers you can try to see if you get a display.

If you do run a good 3D benchmark like 3Dmark 2005 to stress the cards and look for any pixelization of the images.

Probably best to do this with one card at a time.
