NH-D14 or Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro

As some of you may or may not know i am gonna build a rig in a month or two

The problem i have with the D14 is that it is so effing ugly, where as the Dark Rock looks very sleek, and as tom said in his review the cooler isn't bad at all

So the question to you guys is should i buy it instead? i am gonna run maybe about 4.6/7 ghz OC and i don't know if the Dark Rock can handle it

EDIT: uhh yes sorry i am gonna put a 2600k in there and case will be the HAF X (case might change)

If it is sandy bridge your talking about then yes the dark rock pro will be fine as long as the case you install it into has good airflow.

I am very tempted to just buy it now, but i'd like to hear some more opinions

And by the way i am not a bencher etc, that is what i have TTL for! nah just kidding but i am gonna run it at around 4.6Ghz and will most likley go higher when needed, but maybe by then i have a new rig!

I just read on their website they will be releasing the new version of the dark rock wich should be more silent and will be released in september maybe i should wait for that

also, the Coolink Corator is another option (cheaper version of the D14)

Money isn't really gonna be a problem but i don't like Coolink anyways

EDIT: by the way dug where did you get the IC Diamond you are using? i am thinking of getting it too!

pre-warm the tube before applying, as it is very viscous stuff

...

on a radiator;

in the airing cupboard, under the tank's insulating jacket;

or,

place the tube in a polythene bag and immerse in hot water

once it is warm, it spreads much easier

Yea i got that from another thread you posted in

But would you go with the Dark Rock in my situation? and i am probably going to get the second version

if you want a black theme, AND have a windowed case then the Dark Rock is the more asthetic option

but, if you haven't got a windowed case get the D14

There is this small window in the HAF X that almost only shows the CPU cooler... so i think i will go with the Dark Rock for now

If its for gaming and other normal stuff,the dark rock pro will be sufficient,but for 24/7 100% use,like Folding

it wont be enough.

My 2600k at 98.8x48 @ 1.41v folding stable,i have peaks in mid 70c`s with the nh-d14.

But i will admit,the dark rock pro looks great.

And who knows the 2nd version might even be better than the D14

I am 98% sure i am gonna buy the Dark Pro. Thanks guys

Are you a fit and forget person? The only thing that puts me off about the Dark Rock is the fitting. If TTL says its a pig to fit then it must be a real pain.

Yes i am only gonna refit it after cleaning my rig so it shouldn't be too big of a problem and i can always get my brother to hold the cooler for me

And maybe they even changed the mounting system ond their second version

Don't forget that Noctua always offers free mounting hardware for any new sockets that come out.... might be good for the future when 2011 is released.

Sorry to Hijack your thread but +1 REP to whoever finds me the cheapest Noctua NH-D14 delivered. Best I can do is £65 from eBuyer.
