Anyone interested in a little friendly leaderboard on a few tracks using say 3 tracks?

I was thinking of :Spa gp,The 'ring(full) and one other.Rather than just using any car,make sure it is separated into the tiers?

either time trial or quick race with 0 opponents,but would we have it as 1 lap or 2?as in first is your warm up lap the into a flying lap or just a straight cold dead lap?

when does the game black screen?

does it happen in the same place all the time?

are gpu temps ok?

what version of drivers are you running?

do you have the latest DX?

im not in for this, its a bit poo imo, its like it has a 5th wheel in the middle of the car and the back to steps out for no reason. grid > shift imo, graphics are ok tho

Thats cos either youve not given it time or you just cant drive for toffee

think the first thing we need to do is add each other to the ingame friends list/messenger thingy (press 'm' in the main menu, or access it thru online menus)

Me and Pyr0 were racing early hours of this morning, its great on detail but is deffo harder than grid, I need to try and set mine up a bit better

what settings are you running? Defaults - I've reinstalled a bunch, cleared all the settings.xml a bunch too.

when does the game black screen? Just after the Shift logo, trying to run the movie. I've replaced the movie with a 0 byte one just in case but it still bombs. I'm not the only one.

does it happen in the same place all the time? Yep. The only time it didn't it crashed the instant I got control at Brands

are gpu temps ok? Perfectly fine. Mind bogglingly low actually. Not in a "there's a problem" way, just in a "running a desk fan with the side off" way

what version of drivers are you running? 9.9. Tried 9.8 and 9.7 too. With proper cleaning techniques

do you have the latest DX? Yes. And all the not included in DX10 stuff too

did you install the latest physx driver? I'm sure i have. I'll redownload anyway but I'm sure I have. I'm OC(3)D about those things

Sorry Pyr0. Because I can't run it I didn't keep much of an eye on this thread.

Basically it appears I'm screwed. Luckily the net is full of people with ATI cards on 7 who are having this issue. EA wont care, ATI will sort it eventually but are busy with the 5xxx launch.

Ah well. Grid still rocks my socks.

i just moved the movie files to a different folder

My 2nd HD is my created/backup stuff. Don't want to mess it up with an OS.

i read a couple o peeps on xp with the black sceen managed to get it running after using win98 compat on the shift.exe (maybe try the other compat. options too), someone else installed vista, and another installed 7

I'm running Win7 RTM.

In fact I haven't run another OS since the original 7 beta. It's amazing.

Apart from this whole EA problem, but lets be honest their record with PC games isn't exactly stellar.

ive messed with the settings in game and it still handles like a fish no matter how i try it, and i played it for 5-7 hours and still hate the handling.

its handles better on 360 tho imo(played my mates), so i might pick up up on 360 when it gets cheaper.

I'm not very good, but have no problems with the handling, but then i'm using a wheel with the internal view, not a gamepad *shrug*

none of the cars i've driven so far feel like there's a 5th wheel in the middle tho

i just have to be gentle with the steering and accel when coming out of corners so i don't oversteer and spinout.

using too much speed in the corners or accelerating too hard/early on the exit is the only reason my back end steps out, or if i clip the grass

it's def more of a sim than previous nfs games, but still manages to be fun
