Hello peeps.

I am thinking of grabbing myself one of these boards with the new Nforce Chipset. :)

I know not many of us have played with one yet, but do you lot think they have improved the overclocking for quads?

I bloody hope they have! :D

The 790i is the true next gen nvidia chipset but is ddr3 only iirc - it will be much better than the botched 780i (which is somewhat better than the 680i)

I have been googling and so far all i can find is people saying the 790i is based on 680i.

Hardly any info on these new boards.. sucks.

I am really ready to buy the Striker II Formula.... Mmmmm :cool:

I would wait for benches before making such conclusions about 780i TBH. You would of thought nvidia would have made some improvement to it.

Have not heard about the 790i myself :( But from what you are saying, it sounds better.

As for Mr. Smith said,

name='Mr. Smith' said:
790i has full integrated pci-e 2.0 support built into the nb, the 780i has a chip bolted on...

what do you mean exactly by that??

He means the 780i has a PCI-e 2.0 chip...bolted on? Not sure how else to put it really.

790i should have integrated PCI-e 2.0 support on the NorthBridge itself.

I don't know but I have found 780i isn't the best at gaming, which doesn't make much sense to me as it's a gaming chipset

If you're not going multi-card setup (which I wouldn't do anyway) then get a motherboard with an Intel chipset, nuff said
