Hello gents,
So it has been over two years from my original build and I have been itching at upgrading.
• Where are you located? Montreal, Canada
• What is your budget? About $5500 which is pretty much spent but thinking of replacing the CPU cooler.
• Will you need a monitor, keyboard, and/or mouse included in that budget? No
• Shall you be requiring an OS? No
• What will you be using this rig for? Gaming rig
• If gaming, what resolution will you be playing at? Current is 2560 x 1600 but will move to 4K soon
• Will you be overclocking? Yes, but will need some advice on that
• Do you need a full build or will you be reusing some old parts? Reusing SSD drives, case and power supply
Here is my parts list that I have recently purchased for the upgrade
GeForce Titan Xp
Intel Core i7-6900K
NZXT Kraken X42 RL-KRX42-01 140mm All-In-One Water
Asus Motherboard RAMPAGE V EDITION 10
Samsung 960 PRO Series - 512GB PCIe NVMe
Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 Dram 2800MHz
ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB996SP-6SB
Serveraid M5015 512MB Sas/sata Lp Hba 6GBPS
Here is the parts I am reusing
CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX1200
Silverstone Temjin Series TJ11 Case
So I have two things I wanted to ask advice on:
1. Overclocking the x99 with the 6900K and 2800Mhz ram. Wondering if I should try to overclock past 4.2 with the cooler I have, which brings me to…
2. Dealing with the heat. I really wanted to use a larger radiator but the case in kinda funky with only a single 140mm fan spot close to the CPU. I have no experience running custom water cooling and have used All-in-one kits in the past. Is there any kits that include extra-long tubing? This way I can mount a 240mm or larger radiator kit to the bottom and still reach the CPU.
Case internal
Thanks in advance
