Hey guys,

Im planning on buying a new pc in January hopefully.

As im only 16 and still at school im on a tight budget..

I just wondered what you guys think about this setup/price:

AMD 3500+

1gig ram

Nvidia 6600GT

Win Xp

3 Extra fans and a nice looking case..

£500..

what ya think?

I reckon get an AMD 3200+ and use the extra money to buysomething like an ATI x800GTO

Apart from that looks pretty decent mate :)

Pretty decent? compared to your specs its nothing lol.

I hate ATI anyways, I think it'll do.

Well I think you'll find something with a slightly less decent CPU and a lot better Graphics Card would make for a better system overall

And I never understand why people say that they "hate" one company or qanother :eh:

The thing is..

The price difference between an:

AMD 3200 ----> 3500 Is.. £40

Yet the price difference between a:

Nvidia 6600GT 256Mb -----> 6800GS/GT is £100

Im on a budget guys!

Say I stick, Should I just get a 3200+ anyways to cut costs?

I'm all for swapping up the 6600 for an x800GTO2, that's by far the most cost effective way about getting some 1337 gfx performance.

And go with the 3200+ and get some TCCD/TCC5 based ram as it will more than likely clock as well as a 3500+.

There's a 6800GS here for £140ish - and yeah get the 3200+ as you can OC it a bit and easily get it up to 3500+ speeds :)

Its £170, you forgot to add the VAT.

As for eBay, A big NO.

Why? Because in september I used my birthday money to purchase a Ipod Mini,

I was scammed of £110 as the person never sent it.

I start a claim in October and im yet to recieve my cash back..

FUCK EBAY.

Well, you just got really unlucky. Most sellers are reliable, trustworthy people. I myself got my old processor, memory, and motherboard on EBay for quite a bit lower than retail prices

Yep I don't tend to use ebay a whole lot but meh.

And that one I pointed out is actually £146.82 inc VAT so try looking before you say it cost more than it actually does ey?

If you don't want advice then don't ask - its as simple as that.

The people who have been answering this thread know what they are talking about and know that a new GPU will give you more benefit than a slightly higher clocked CPU in gaming.

Lmao, when did i ignore you..

Also I see the graphics card you were referring to now..

I was looking at the other 6800GS which is at the top of the page:

Leadtek GeForce 6800 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI- @ £144.95 (£170.32 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Not the -

OcUK GeForce 6800 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI @ £124.95 (£146.82 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I sincerely apologise.
