New Rad: Ideas?

Hey,

So I'm looking to upgrade my current watercooled set up.

Basically I have at the moment:

PUMP -> EK Supreme -> 120mm TFC Rad -> 5.25" Bay Resevoir

I am thinking about getting a 3.120 rad, but not sure which is the best: have you guys got reviews/ideas? I just want one rad for my CPU, and I will later add an ATI 4890 block.

On a separate note: what size cable braiding is suitable for power. I want to braid everything, never done it before, and I guess I need heat shrink too?
 
there are many sizes depending on what you are braiding. 'power' is too broad, you would need to be specific.
 
Well for everything really -

SATA cables

4 pin molex connectors.

24 pin atx

8 pin atx

etc.

I assume I need different sizes then?
 
yes mate unless you are going to do individual wires youll need to but quite a few different types. Getting the 24pin and pcie cables out the connectors will be an interesting experience for you ;)
 
to be honest, radiator performance is relative to fan rpm and cfm.

but overall the thermochills are the best all across the rpm range, but near 2000rpm and high cfm, the difference in performance to say a black ice GTX or stealth rad becomes negligble.

alot of people will tell you to go thermochill and not consider anything else, considering i have a stealth 360 and had pa120.3 previously, trust me when i say there was no difference, as long as you use good fans in terms of performance. read roundups aswell. :D

sorry i feel as though watercooling nowadays has become so...linear (sorry for the lack of a better word)

one part is the best, thats that.

The reason why we say thermo, and I more than most have reasons to suggest other companies. But thermos work at low fan speeds. If I had to have fans on my rads at 2000rpm then I wouldnt be a happy boy.

Thermos work at low fans speed and that means quieter. Untill another company matches or beats this then Ill keep reccomending them

thing is fans like the arctic cooling f12 make quiet and high cfm affordable aswell, along with advances in overall fan and bearing design.

looking at certain graph trends i can see some radiators overtake the thermochill in performance with high cfm, even the stealth could be estimated to beat the thermochill at over 2000rpm due to the higher fin density than the thermochill.

Your missing the point. High cfm = extra noise.

If there is a quieter rad out there Im happy to loose 2c to save my ears from an 80db 2000rpm bashing day in day out.

The reason the thermos win out is the QUIETNESS and not needing to be force-fed so much air to cool.
