New PC build for 3D and Post Production Work

I was just curious because it sounds like a monstrous build!

And that Dell monitor wow

As far as mobos go, don't get an 'ultimate' one because you will probably find you wouldn't know the difference between a 'good' board after a while

Thanks guys, your being extremely helpful, much appreciated.

I was looking for one of those 'closed loop' water coolers which manage themselves, I thought the corsair Hydro H80 might do it, the reviews didn't seem bad.

Hows the Noctua-D14 taz838? Ill check the reviews, do you know if there noisy?

I'll look into the other makes you mentioned

Thanks again

Arvind!

Hey guys, is it just me, because when I check the reviews and test results of the above cpu coolers, the Corsair H80 O mentioned seems to be getting really good temp results compared to the others like thermaltake, antec, silver arrow (which doesn't seem to have a lga2011 cpu cooler yet), nzxt havik, or the nh-d14. Although the NH-D14 did get good results aswell.

Any suggestions

Thanks

Arvind!

It's up to you mate, but the stock fan(s) on the H80 will be louder than the D-14.

Awesome, cheers fellas, OK next question

My budget stretches to one gtx 580 and I was looking for one with 3GB of onboard RAM cos it really helps when working with heavy 3D scenes with lots of textures (which I will be) do you guys have any preference, I've read individual reviews but not sure which is best overall.

The Gainward seems like the best to me, any comments on this:

evga's also got a 3gb version right? knowing what i do now, i would go for that because then in the future if you want to watercool you can and it's still covered by the warranty.

Yes taz, i'm planning on taking over the world, mwahahahaha!

No it's a PC for 3D and Post Production work. I currently work in the Visual FX industry and I'm working on a few personal film based projects at home and was building the PC for that really and general 3D work too......... not to mention the odd game or six!!

EVGA do a 3GB card and the reviews seem good, so totally stuck on which is better, theres a couple of other makes that do 3GB aswell I believe

Thanks guys

Arvind!

Well if my facts are correct, the more RAM on the card better optimized for multiple screen set ups. I do not think it makes large difference which 580 3GB you go for, go for something you are happy with. EVGA is pretty famous in United States I think, I guess you cannot go wrong with them!

You have to promise to put pictures up of this build while making it, it is going to be crazy!

One more thing, what makes that monitor so special that it costs a kidney?

the Dell? well its 30" so its gonna cost a little more due to its size. Next reason is the resolution, 2560x1600, which is four (my bad) 1.97530864

times more pixels then a 1080p screen, so the pixels are small and tight together which adds to the cost. Also that monitor has an IPS panel so the view angles are great but more important the color reproduction is supposed to second to none <-- $ (but some(linustechtips) says that the new samsung PLS panel are as good if not better, they are new though and not as well known)

Exactly what mrDMxtreme said. Thats why it's so good for 3D, Film or photographic work!

But yeah, it is a crazy price, I'm actually gonna have to put it on some sort of 9 month payment plan I rekon!

It's actually only double a 1080p screen
