Over the next few months the OC3D website is going to be getting a fresh lick of paint with some new features, an updated design and (most probably) an entirely new logo.

The CPU logo has been with the site for 4 years now, and while it is instantly recognisable, the fact that it's based on the old Athlon XP processor not only makes it look dated but also catches us some flack :p

The following 3 logos are concepts i've been working on. Please vote which you think is best (or not any).

Out of all those I chose the first. The clock thing is just a bit too overdone on these sites to be honest, somthing different makes it stand out more. I quite like the chip logo, could you not create an updated version of that? i7 chip and some new writing or somthing?

Problem with the new chips is that its just an IHS, so all you'd get is a square block and no detail. Plus I want to try and avoid us having a manufacturer specific logo in the future.

the last 3 seem more fitting to a computer site, but the clock has been overdone as toejam said. Toms is better as it matches the current scheme, dont know if thats gonna change though

The overall colour scheme is going to stay the same (OC3D blue background & blue-black gradient at top of page). Some grey is being introduced and some orange taken away.

My only concern is for gradients vs glass effect. To me the glass effect on 4 & 5 is a web2.0 look that suits websites which are entirely designed with the glass look. The new OC3D will retain a professional gradient slightly more dated look.

EDIT:

If ya see what I mean (or not):

Number one by miles. But in orange and without the insane amount of shine on the "3D" part.

The clock thing is bobbins. It's way too distorted to look like a C. And even if it wasn't, logo simplicity is vital. How else can we get fan grills made? :)

i can't decide, but maybe 2 or 3 (but with Overclock3D in smaller lettering too) if we're sticking with the gradient look

Not obviously an entry cos it ain't a comp, but a rough outline of what I meant.

Definitely number 1

Ya see now I'd agree personally with #1 as well. IMO it looks professional and is simplistic - just the way we are going with the new OC3D site design.

However, take away the words OC3D and on its own it means nothing. Nobody would ever associate it with OC3D which is going to be a b1tch as manufacturers like square logo's to go on their websites/packaging.

BTW if anyone is good at PS, feel free to chip in with some designs.

how bout a generalised blue mobo instead of the athlon cpu?

rectangular and they all pretty much have similar layouts so can't be associated with any one manu

How about these lads
