Hi Guys im looking to upgrade my monitor to a 27' 1440p 144hz

i mainly play fps games like CSGO and a few triple a games

the two i have been looking at are not sure if i want to sacrifice the 1ms response time for gsync

Thanks

the Benq sure is ugly do you need Gsync? cos that what makes the acer expensive and there are equally nice screens out there for less if your spending that kinda money you may aswell push for 34 wide screen curved

In addition to what he said, the difference of 3ms will not be noticeable. Anything 5ms and below is perfectly fine for any competitive game.

Thanks for the replys

No I don't really need gsync as it would be turned of most of the time when playing fps games, I would only turn it on for other games

I like the acer but for the price and the mixed reviews of panel quality ,dead pixels and backlight bleed are a concern for me

I would like the panel to last a long time so want something that won't outdate to quickly

Found this older version of the benq with near almost the same spec

I'm not sure if you have ever tried Nvidia's Adaptive Vsync but I can totally vouch for it. It was the idea they had for finally sorting out Vsync before they came up with Gsync. It works in a very similar fashion only it works on any monitor, even Freesync ones.

You go into your NVCP and enable it globally and hey presto - no more tearing or input lag.

So don't be scared off by monitors without Gsync, I get along perfectly fine without it.

As for the monitors?

1. I would not buy any Acer monitor nor product at any price.
2. IIRC that Zowie monitor did not review very well.

Right now I am waiting for a courier but I am sure there was a monitor group test last month in my mag I read. If you want I can go get it once my parcel has been picked up.

Absolutely sure that a Dell won yet again, though.

Thanks ive not tried Adaptive Vsync yet so ill remember that for when i need it.

i agree i think i would just be wasting money investing in a gsync panel if im not going to be using it much to benefit from it.

ill give the acer a miss then

the zowie seems good from what ive read so far, the only problem with it seems to be the default colour accuracy seems to be bad but with a bit of adjustment you can get it look decent

if you can check that would be great, any help before i take the plunge and pick one would be awsome

Thanks ;)

Care to elaborate on that?...

I already have countless times dude.

Cheap casing, cheap stand (wobbled like crazy if I tapped my foot on the floor listening to music) scratched and marked easy pig to keep clean. I know it doesn't sound possible to have cheaper plastic but the Acer seemed to be about as cheap as it gets.

Screen was terrible. BLB all over the place that used to manifest in like glowing circles then spread, kinda like a spotlight.

Gaming picture quality was OK I guess. It also scaled down resolutions well when you couldn't power 4K but that was literally about it.

The warranty is crap (two years with the seller, just standard law and no extras) and when I came to sell it I got very little for it because it was an Acer.

Just not a good monitor. Especially when there are companies like Dell out there.

OP - I just remembered about this, will go get the mag now.

Edit OK got it. Sadly it is 24" monitors only. However, before you buy anything check out Dell's range and have a read of reviews because they usually win.

Usually Samsung panels too.....

Yup forgot about those tbh ! LG do a couple of gooduns 'n all.

All I know is buying a monitor is a nightmare. There are no real group tests and so you have to research for yourself and look at entire ranges, then look for reviews. And often when you find one you are all ready to hit the order button on, then you find out it doesn't do something you wanted.

It took me nearly a week of going at it for hours at a time to find what I wanted.

No worries man, good luck with your quest ! and yeah, would love to hear what you think of your choice :)
