Hi everyone. It's going to be my first build, and I am what iffing myself to death! So far I've got : Asus x58 sabertooth, i7 950, corsair xms 12 gb ddr3, and ozc 60gb ssd. I'm getting the parts one a week as the work paychecks roll in. I want to add a second 1tb hard drive and will need help figuring it all out. My old ladys being all skeptical and wondering why i am spending all this money on parts when we have a perfectly fine although 10 year old dell. If my build doesn't go well first she'll laugh at me then kill me. I just want a system that will beat the crap out of our old dell and still last a long time! With what I've got so far, can anyone recommend good, dependable parts for what remains for me to get? Such as cpu fan, 2nd hard drive, power supply, case, ect? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thought I'd make an account, as I have been subscribed to the TimeToLiveCustoms channel for a bit now. Love Tom's reviews and face have found them to be quite educational for my rather flimsy knowledge on watercooling! So wiggly thumbs up for that one

Got back into the PC building lark a year ago, have had 2 lovely builds so far and working on a 3rd! I'll take a few pix at some point over in the show off your pc section.

So yeah, I'm lovely and deep, male; and i'll type you later. x

Hello all,

Just signed up moments ago having been lurking for a couple of weeks :-)

Needless to say I'm into PCs and modding!

Have got a fairly decent gamer, a 2500k @4.6 with a GTX 570 @ 800 core, all on an Asus P8Z68-V Pro with 2x4gb Vengeance RAM. This is in a CM 690 II case, running W7 Ultimate 64. Using an Antec Kuhler 620 for the CPU, not a bad cooler. Chosen more for neatness of install rather than cooling potential. Running push/pull with a couple of Alpenfohn fans.

Still using my old Q6600 on an ASUS P35 mobo with 8gb ram, prevously running at 3.6 for the past three years or so, though it's now down to 3.0 and relegated to Gateway/Server/Workhorse duties in which it performs admirably. Running W7 Ult 64 on that too, driving an old 8800GT and sat in an Antec 900 case.

Additionally, thanks to a friends upgrade itch, I've built a nice little media PC to go next to the TV. It's a Q6700 at 3.0 with a GTX 275. A nice, quite and cool box - sat in an Antec 300 case.

I also have my old Gateway as a backup/stand in box - an old AMD 4200 x2. Dated now but still pretty decent for day-to-day activities or to be brought back into service as the Gateway if needed. W7 Ultimate 64 on that too

Finally, I have a very old P4 3.4 HT - originally from a Sony Viao PC but rebuilt into a better case. Only really built it to use up spares! Nice box, works well with just 2gb ram running W7 Ultimate 32 :-)

Anyway, hopefully I haven't bored people too much already - we all LIKE PC's and tech talk right?

Cheers,

Scoob.

Hey all,

Thought I better introduce myself!

Been following Tom on youtube and facebook for months now, and I find his reviews and other videos very useful and informative when it comes to myself picking new hardware. As being a student, my budget is somewhat tight!

So, the basics;

I live in the UK, and I'm currently just about to begin the second year of my Computer Science degree. Computing and Technology is something I've had a passion for since a very young age, I've been tinkering and building PCs since I was 12, so nearly 9 years ago. My first build was based around an old Celeron machine that my school had thrown out, I couldn't let it go to waste!

My current system specs are as follows :

-AMD Phenom X2 955 BE

-Thermaltake Frio HSF ( I know, I know.... got it before Tom enlightened me!)

-4GB OCZ DDR3

-MSI 880GM-E41 Motherboard

-Sapphire HD 6850 @ 890/1160

-500GB WD Blue - Boot drive - Going to replace with an SSD when budget allows.

-1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 - Used for my steam and other game installs.

-2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4 - Used for all my media storage needs.

All this is encased in a rubbish old full tower case from a friends old prebuilt, I'm currently awaiting payday so I can order myself a Fractal Arc Midi! Then my rig shall be sorted, for now at least!

I play a fair amount of videogames in my spare time, so if anyone wants to chat about gaming, or general computer chit chat - Then hook me up on steam, my username is Tenu.

Not really sure what else to put here now... so I'm gona say 'out' (Y).

See ya around.

Hey folks, just joined.

So, to intro...

First of all im a noob, and havent really messed with computers since i put a Righteous Orchid 1 meg card in many years ago. Back then i thought it was amazing, and in some ways i still do. I think the system i had was a Pentium 75, and i took it to bits so many times my girlfriend thought i was a genius, heh. Something like 20 years on ide love to dismantle the one i have now but i dont think its a good idea somehow. But maybe i will if i could find enough room to lay everything out like i used to.

Most of my time during the day is spent drawing with an old version of CAD, and i get completely lost inside a whole nother world. I have drawn requests that have been built, and built my drawings too. Back when i was a plater i knocked together the sheltering for Farnborough Airport in the UK, with the help of a good friend who took a hand in the PepsiMax in Blackpool. A boxing champion in his younger days i might add, whose wisdom is quite remarkable.

Basically im a steel engineer but have great respect for computer engineers, and those that know their stuff, that i never used to(excuse the honesty). Not suprising in reason for my interest in computers and how my life has panned out as it were, is when i came across a game on the ZX Spectrum. Atic Attack i think it was called, and then later Sim City which i still play from time to time, to tweak. Atic Attack grabbed me instantly because i tried to visualise the whole place. Sim City, later 4 is just an awesome building game for me, and i hope they bring it into the technology thats available today.

Well thats about it for intro i guess relating to computers and such. Im glad to be here and hope to learn alot, and perhaps help others if i may. Im quite new to forums, terms and jargon, as well as those used in computing. I have a personal drawback where sometimes i need step by step instruction on how to do things which i hope will not offend. I am a very black and white person with a taste for complex if that makes sense.

So heres me

Hi Everyone! I do everything online...including alot of gaming. I am looking for advice as well as someone who can build a high powered Internet Marketing Computer in the next month or so.
