New Members: Post your introduction!

Hi guys also new to this forum/website & slowly but surely when funds come available I am upgraded this ageing creaking PC.Well I have to upgrade when the components die on me i.e GPU & PSU. Learning to dabble with the dark arts of OVERCLOAKING especially with my new 7600GT AGP card (yes I haven't upraded to PCI-express) as I daren't try with my Athlon 28 XP & this ASUS A7N8X motherboard.

Unless anyone else can help me?

hi there

:wavey: ive been using pc's for over 20 years but am only just very recently lookking into the overclocking scene than i shjould have been. I have always tried to keep up with the latest technology in pc's and have always tried to get the best bang for my buck as you can imagine ;) i am currently running a phenom 9600 with a 9800gx2 +4x1gb corsair select ddr2 with a ASUSTEK m3a mobo 920gb internal sata and 2.5tb exzternal drives and a 20" hp w2007v monitor. I have been disappointed by the 3dmarks i have been receiving and am trying to find out what i can do to increase these scores. As i said i am new to the overclocking and am just trying the rivatuner after much trawling through the varius info posted on many sites andf have found this one to be the best and most infomative i have seen so far hence me joining up to this one. As a complete nOC neewbie i am desperately in need of any help or advice anyone can give me. I dont think i have too bad a system as a basic but im not looking to spend rediculous amounts on cooling systems ie water cooling or such as i think i should be getting better benches on 3dmark06 than i am and im just trying to get my bang for buck so to speak. Plus having 1+ 4 extra kids now im very limited as to cash having just upgaraded my mobo and grfx card to the latest and best i can afford at the moment.

Ahh hiya mate.. Firstly welcome to the forum :)

As for overclocking.. Well I can't help you with your Phenom CPU as I have zero experience in dealing with them. There area a couple of people on here that have also recently purchased the GX2 and will be able to help you with overclocking that. The first two to pop to mind are Toxcity and Mr. Smith.

Also could you give a little more info on the RAM you're using? As in what speed it is..

What I would say is read the stickies in the overclocking section of the forum to get yourself a basic understanding of what people are saying to you when they do offer their advice... Check out the threads in here: Link

The response rate on this forum is very very good and I have no doubt you'll get the help you'll need to overclock your system as well as you can. Sorry I haven't been able to help you directly though :(

my ram is DDR2 PC2-5300 667mhz

Ahh ok.. Again I haven't any experience with Corsair ram or that speed so again I'm pretty useless.

I could tell you how you go about overclocking it but it possibly wouldn't make much sense until you've had a read up and had a look through for BIOS to get a feel for the layout.

If your looking to start learning to OC i sugest starting here.

Although it refers to the mighty 939 Athlon 64s, not much has changed between 939 and AM2 OC wise. And phenom being based on the same socket shouldn't be much different again.

Next id go start a new thread as this isn't really the place to be discussing the pc :p

And, of course, welcome to OC3D :wavey:

Watcha Matey :wavey: I am sure you will find help after you pose your question in the appropriate thread. We have a good bunch of guys who will hunt the answer down for you if need be. Can someone help me find my phone lol

Hi guys! I'm new to the computer building/modding scene as of about 6/12 months ago. I've been playing computer and console games since i was about 4/5 years old. Computers are something that really interest me and i love watching videos on how to do this and that or reading project logs of other users who have built computers. I'm currently planning on building my own rig and i already have some parts. I also would like a future in game coding or design so i figured it was a valuable skill to have. I currently play only some games because my old computer is not enough to support the newer ones, hit me up on Xfire if you guys want to have a game of CS:S or UT.

Old guy with new toys

High Guys,

Just got my Altec Lansing ADA855's:drool: Have them set up as 2.1, but will try 4.1 at some point. Here's my first stupid question. When I switch modes from 2X stereo to pro-logic I seem to get more bass and better sound quality(bighter with more depth and definition) Why? These speakers really rock even though there from 1999:rocker: I can rattle the windows and the cat totally freaks:rollingla

Thanks for any imput:worship:

No point in buying 32 bit I don't think. I have been running x64 bit Vista for ages with no probs. I bought the Home Premium version. It's not like XP x64 because there is lots of support for it drivers wise. Its faster and can see up to 8 gig memory. I can see no disasdvantages to x64 but x32 bit has some restrictions.

I hope this helps?
