First of all, this is my first build, and the of the computer is to play games on a decent frame rate and to run Adobe After Effects without ridiculous render times. (My current computer took 71 hours to render a 5 minute video.)

These are the parts that I am thinking about:

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Red)
Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB ( 2x8GB ) DDR3-1600
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB
HD: Western Digital Green 2TB
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB
PSU: SeaSonic G 550W 80 PLUS Gold
Fans: Thermaltake AF0032 120mm (Blue LED)

Any suggestions or changes the you would make to the hardware?

Do you think I could get by with a GTX 650 Ti Boost or should a invest more money in a GPU?

Does anybody know of any really easy way to add LEDs to the case that are not LED fans?

Anybody know of a fairly cheap non-gaming keyboard?

I did a ton of research before compiling this hardware list, but it is my first build so I thought getting feedback from more experienced people would help a lot.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

do you really need the 16gb of ram? an change the theremaltake fans an you are golden mate

I agree with Trip on this. It's obvious you're not going to be doing anything that you would need 16G of ram for so I would go with 8G and Corsair AF120 QE fans.

If rendering will be happen often then using an 3770k will give you a nice time deduction. Only need 8gb ram for this build as nothing will be too taxing unless multiple renders are going on. A 650ti Boost is about the same price as a 660 so mine as well upgrade to that. Fan wise depends on the placement in your rig they will be mounted.

Is the 660 much better than the 650 ti boost?

Sweet! Thanks, Definitely going to go with 8 GB of RAM.

If I use the Corsair AF120 QE fans, how should I light up the case without LED fans?

I know your knew but rules are no double posting. Use the Multi-Quote button to quote more than 1 person; use the Edit button to fix or add more information.

The 660 is about 10% faster... I just checked prices(in a while) and the 650ti Boost has had a reduction in price. Only worth it if you have the money with the difference. I reside in the US so i check Newegg.com(as most do) for those in the US in the forum.

Buy a led kit from bitfenix/nzxt. Phobya make some too but are more expensive. You only need one and white will usually bring out the contrast in colors well.

Nice Solid Build,

The GTX 670 price has dropped to within striking distance recently (Have seen it at 330 AUD), a small overclock gets the 670 performing better then a 680!!

Also well worth the upgrade from a 650 to 660. I Run a 660ti and clock it past 670 performance. Although it should be noted that these cards have very little scope for overclocking.
