Not to fancy Corsair 500r. Stuffed with a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX, AMD FX-8120, cooled by a Corsair H60, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600, ASUS GTX 460 (soon to be replaced with a EVGA GTX 670 FTW), have replaced all the stock fans. In place of the 200mm side fan is 2 x Cougar 140mm, 2 x Cougar 140mm in the top, and 2 x Cougar 120mm in the front all controlled by a BitFenix Recon. The PSU will soon be a Corsair HX 850. So be gentle

we are always gentle, even with vibox workers. your rig looks fairly clean, i like it. i myself am looking into the ftw 670 since my 7950 isn't working properly, i am just wondering how that cooler can do any good. you forgot to mention that you use a Corsair H60 btw, do you use a stock fan on that? if yes, replace it, those things are so noisy.

, i am just wondering how that cooler can do any good. .

You mean the H60? It does alright, my FX is stock speeds. I plan on a custom WC loop in the future. But idle it keeps the FX at 30 c and under load the warmest ive seen is 48 c.

im not sure...i was plannin on gettin mine wet when i did the rest :D but all thats gonna be a while. Thats alot of money to try and convince my CFO...err..my wife to let me spend on computer hardware.

First off, welcome!

Second, other than the fact that I think most here would recommend Intel over AMD, I see nothing wrong with your build. Looks clean and tidy and seems you have some solid upgrades planned. Nontheless, good job with your rig man.

Thanks...and on the Intel over AMD, ive always used intel in my builds, figured this time i would try something different. So far im pleased. The FX overclocks pretty easily, was able to get it to 4.8 but was to much for the h60 to handle i think, got a bit on the warm side.

I can imagine it would. I have a friend that recently did an FX-8350 build and he seems very pleased as well. AMDs might not be quite on par with Intels but they are by no means lacking. They certainly are powerful CPUs.

Just an update...i had my FX runnin at stock speeds. Got the day off work today was bored so I messed around with OC'n my stuff. Got it stable at 4.8 @ 1.45 but like i posted previously was to hot under prime95. Bumped it down, and settled on 4.3 @ 1.32 until i can afford a custom loop setup. overall im happy

Ultimately that's what counts, amirite? Yeah you got a LOT of headroom left in that processor before you hit the recommended voltage peak (1.55V I want to say it is for FX chips before you have to start doing some pretty extreme stuff). Rig looks good so far!

Lovely rig mate, I've been eyeing up that RAM for a while now but it jut went out of stock on Aria :(
Again lovely rig!

only problem is that is only is in 1600 speed.. which for gaming is fine. but for
productivity as fast as the IMC can handle. lower voltages, lower heat and consistency
prevails.
