New headset or soundcard.

Hey guys,i feel like my current headset isn't performing. I currently have the Razer Carcharias and i can't hear many footsteps (I'm into competitive cs:s and just a sound whore.)

So i thought about this;

OPTION 1

I am looking to spend sub $120 (australian $$ from www.pccasegear.com), maybe a little over if it's actually worth it.

So far these have caught my eyes but i don't know which is better as i don't know much about headsets.

SteelSeries Siberia V2

Logitech G35

Corsair HS1

OPTION 2

I am looking into soundcards and wondering if i would see an improvement just from this. If so, what card would you recommend, like i have said before i am willing to spend sub $120 Aussie.

Is it worth upgrading from what i have to any of these? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: The headset/soundcard is primarily for gaming.

On a cheap headset (headsets under $200, NOT counting audiophile headphones) you will notice VERY little if any improvement by getting a new sound card, so lets rule that out. Out of the three the G35 is your best bet. Reason one is because they offer 7.1 (which is VERY directional mind you). And reason 2 i can safely vouch for them, they are about as good as you are going to get, i had a pair of G35s and eventually got the G930 which is the wireless counterpart. The bass is phenomenal, the 7.1 can be clearly heard, comfy, and has programmable keys. Also they use USB (Digital audio) so no need for that sound card anymore

i do agree that the g35 is the best out of those 3. i own it and it works well in css, but the soundquality is really lacking, everything sounds hollow... another problem with it is that while it gives you a very good directional sound you will also hear enemie footsteps that are 20 meters away as loud as the ones that are 5m away. my honest recommendation is to buy a decent soundcard now and when you have the money buy a pair of high end headphones ( imho the beyerdynamic premium dt 990s are the best out there)

SteelSeries Sibera v2. You can get the 7.1 soundcard/usb for them off ebay for as little as $3. They're also the comfiest headphones I've ever used, and as you can read from every single review ever done. You won't go back after you get a pair
