New Guy need some help with WC options

Hi,

So ive decided i want to do a proper Water Cooling loop, I just dont know the exact requirements/rad size ect.. for my system.

So at the Moment i Have a 2500k sitting with a clock of 4.1ghz, Its being cooled by an All in One antec 620 water cooling kit (looks like the corsair H60 ect..)

General browsing of the web ect and the CPU is always at 30-32c, idle is about 27c, Maximum it has hit is 64c under a full load in Prime.

I want to cool the CPU more but wether it is needed is another thing. I would prefer to cool the GPU at the same time but its not possible with my case sadly, which brings me to my questions.

The maxmimum i can seem to fit is a 240mm Rad. The only place it can go is Up front of the case If i cut the bottom part of the Disc tray holder out, remove the HDD trays and mount my HDD's in The 2 remaining Disc Drive spots, easily done, it means i can get a 240mm in there now. The front of the case is a 200mm Fan. So the Rad will have a 200mm blowing on it and 2 120mm's pulling on the otherside, The 120's are 70CFM and the 200mm is 110FM would this be good enough?

Since its the front it is the intake for the case, Will having a Rad on the intake mean all the air going into the case will be hot from cooling the rad?

I know which waterblock i want, the XSPC Raystorm so thats the block i will be using, and i also thought about buying the XSPC 750 240mm rad Kit to completely finish the loop, id keep the rasa block for spares.

Will the XSPC Kit pump/rad be good enough for my cpu??

To cool the GPU aswell it would need a 360mm rad right? which i have no room for

Sorry for the long winding explanation, im just not all that familiar with WC setups. I just want to get it right before i buy things.

This is the space im working with and yes i need to get rid of that 200mm red fan in the top lol

TBH dude that case will need some serious surgery to get a decent rad in there, also having 70cfm fans on will make you deaf. The extra 200mm fan will do nothing for the rad what so ever.

To be perfectly honest a water loop will do you no favors unless you are really cranking the clocks, for your CPU you really are better off with a decent air cooler. It will be quieter and still easily max that cpu out of you have even half an idea of what you are doing.

Look at the Phanteks cooler and the Noctua NH-D14.

I wouldnt bother with water unless you want to spend a lot of money and time to do ir properly.
 
What sort of sized rad would i have to be looking at for good performance? i know the i5 i have can goto 5ghz so far

The fans i have are CM sickleflows rated at 69.9CMF? And there only 19DB according to where i got them

This is what i had in mind, so i can fit whatever thickness 240 rad if that helps?

Or Am i best just forgetting the whole idea

240 rad will not just bolt in that gap mate you either have to cut the floor or the drive bay AND the holes in the front are not even correct to just bolt a rad up with all 8 fan screws.
 
yea the floor of the drivebay is what i was going to cut Like one of your videos (was for another bitfenix case) I wont know until i have a Rad in my hand for possible mounting options thats the trouble. I can make mounts/brackets and such at my work to mount it securely, I just dont know what sized 240Rad i need to make it worthwhile, Im willing to put in the work if i see good temps.
 
Phobya makes a 200mm rad for those types of cases havent really reseached it much for performance but it might be worth checking out.. As I modded my case to fit a 360mm RX rad I lost all my drive bays. While I am happy with its turn out I am not about having to have all this extra crap on my desk lol. I'd look at a better case than can house a 360. I'm currently planning a case change once funds become available. Looking at the MM Pinnacle 24 case thats for sale on another forum. That beast has tons of room lol

anywho if your going to wc proper then ya need to make sure it all fits or can be fitted properly anything can be made to fit but its gotta look good at same time if case isnt an option for ya I shrug to say this look at rad boxes and mounting the rad outside the case

what I did before ordering my parts was find the deminsions of the rad's I was looking at namely height and width as thickness wasnt as importnat for this part but had it as well. Then I cut out a cardboard template and tossed it in the case to see where things worked best. then I took thickness measurements to make sure it cleared other parts. Click the Snow Storm part of my sig and you'll see my sniper mods to fit a 360mm rad

Yea you've already got quite a lot of spare degrees there, why do you need to upgrade? It sounds like you are bored and want a project :-)

As TTL said, if you're going to do WC, do it big. TBH what you've got is doing a good job, the NH-D14 will do a great job and an rs240 will probably be over the top but not good enough to take on the GPU as well. Which ever way I don't think it's worth the money.

So I'd say leave it alone or loop the CPU and GPU with a 360. It won't fit in your case but can you mod it/fit one of these or buy a new one.

I'm of the opinion that radiators should, as a minimum, vent directly to the outside in fact I prefer mine mounted externally. What you've got there just radiates into the case. But if you did do that I'd mod your case so that the air comes in from the side via a big fan or two and then it can escape to the front and back. It's not ideal but it's better

P.S. Remember that the RS240 is actually 280mm long.

And yes your right its purely for a project and something to do/show off. I do the same with RC cars because i enjoy working with them and fiddling with the parts ect, I think the same could be for PC's before long.

Perhaps the Phantom in white? could get a 360mm rad in the top by the looks of it?

Also if i got a GPU block, how well would it work since the gpu is upside down in my setup meaning the inlet/outlet are also upside down? bit of a tricky situation to loop from the cpu to the gpu
 
how do you mean up or down? lol

The part where you screw the barbs into is pointing down the way? the only thing i can see is having one of them as a 90degree barb? unless im missing something completely lol

I'm sure its fine King of Sand used a koolance for taming his 6990 and said it worked very well
 
Do you know where i can get a colour that looks like Cyan for the fluid?

I tried specialTech but i couldnt see any like that

Well, I figured it was quite big being 623mm long so was a good choice, and TTL Liked it in his video and i do like the look of it too, I know there's the Fractel R3 but it really didnt suite my taste
