Hi Guys,
So I'm currently putting together a new gaming rig which will contain the following components:
Cooler Master Cosmos 2
Corsair AX 860i (I assume this will be enough?)
Asus Maximus VI Formula
Intel i7 4770k
MSI GTX 780 Lightning
Asus Xonar D2X Sound Card (from my old PC).
Samsung 840 Pro SSD for OS and games
3 x WD 2 TB Greens for storage
My main problem is I can’t decide what RAM/CPU cooler combo I should go with. I have narrowed it down to 3 possibilities
1. Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1600MHz 2x8GB CL9 XMP 1,5V with Corsair H100i.
2. Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1600MHz 2x8GB CL9 XMP 1,5V with Noctua NH-U14S
3. Crucial DDR3 Ballistix Tactical 2x8GB 1600MHz CL8 1,5V with my old Noctua NH-D14.
I really do want the Corsair RAM as it is tried and tested, OC’s like a boss, has 1866 or 2400 MHz options available and looks amazing. But if I get that then I can’t use my old NH-D14. I will only OC my CPU to about 4,2-4.4 GHz so I don’t really need a monster cooler, which is why I suggested the NH-U14S as a more silent option, but if you guys think that wont cut the mustard then I will happily get the H100i as cost is not really an issue here. Option 3 does seem like a good one, but I would rather have a smaller cooler plus I've never used Crucial RAM before so I'm not sure how good they really are plus they don’t have XMP either.
Please note that the retailer I use only has Corsair, Crucial and Kingston RAM.
