I'm currently gathering a parts list to build my first gaming rig, I have a final spec, but just want to double check if it'll work...

-Asus M4A79XTD EVO 790X Socket AM3 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard (for later CrossFireX)

-Coolermaster CM690 II with Coolermaster GX 650W PSU

-Sapphire HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 (One for the moment)

-AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3

-Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache

-Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Memory Kit CL9 1.65V XMP

-Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 Socket 775, 1156, 1366, AM2, AM3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler (overclocking the Phenom II 965)

Thanks guys, it all comes to about £515

The x4 955 will be enoguh, just overclock that.

I would buy at least a Mugen 2 cpu cooler and i personally wouldnt recommend crossfire with 5770. They arent strong enogu. Get at least a 6850.

About £500, I looked at a £400 setup, but that will barely last me a year or two, £500 seems the hotspot.

New Spec i've come up with is...

- AMD Phenom II x4 955 (3.2ghz will be at 3.8ghz-4ghz overclock)

- Coolermaster Centurion 5 II Case with Coolermaster GX 550W PSU

- Kingston HyperX 2x2gb 1600mhz

- Palit SONIC GTX 460 1gb (I will overclock this)

- Asus AM3 M4A88T-V EVO

- Coolmaster Hyper 212 Heatsink

- Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Thanks! It's all about 498 quid.

What about an AMD/ATI HD6870 instead of the 460, also gives you the option of Crossfire later on.

RAM: Maybe look into Mushkin Silverline, I think it's slightly cheaper, but it will perform just as well. Also looks a lot prettier.
