The time has come to move on to something different. My X99 machine is being moved from my computer shop to my home. And it is being replaced with a dual Xeon machine.
It is still a work in progress as I just got it up and running on Friday and haven't had much time to do anything with it.
At the time being I have a pair of Noctua NH-U12S coolers on it, but may end up with some water cooling for the looks. And the case has so much freakin' room for it!
The Specs:
Intel Xeon E5-2695 V3 X2 (14 cores/28 threads each)
Noctua NH-U12S X2
Asus Z10PE-D16 WS (mainly picked because of the IPMI built in over the D8 model)
Crucial 32GB (4X8GB) Registered DDR4-2133 - need four more to make it quad channel but it was start to get it going
Samsung 950 Pro M.2 512GB
Very old WD Green 1TB for games that complain about a network installation like Blizzard.
Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming (stole from the X99 build)
Thermaltake Core X9
EVGA Supernova 1300 G2
Windows 10 Pro 64
Corsair K95 RGB
Corsair M95
I use three screens, the center which is 4K and the outside two are 1440P. Replacing those 1440P with 4K to bring the 1440s home as well.
The audio on it I would say is better then that on my Rampage V Extreme. I found that pretty surprising.
You can see they were originally the same orientation, but later on switched to push on one and pull on the other. It was a big pain in the ass with how close they were and getting the fan clips on proper. I had to do some experimenting with one CPU, which meant I had to remove one and redo it.
