New Card & ram

OK On my way back to the UK for 5 days in n 2 weeks time and I wanna upgrade my ram and GFX card.

The card I have now is the 6800LE with all pipes opened and I have 1.5GB Kingston value Ram

Want 2 GB Dual ram and a graphics card that will last me a few years running games at pretty much top level (not SLI as don't want to replace MOBO)

My mobo is the new Asrock dual sata.will OC the ram and card so needs to be good stuff, and I play PC games

Ok any advice would be great - also wher to buy at best price wanna spend no more than £300 ish

Errr... Spending over 300 is going to be necessary if you want good ram and a vid card that will "last you a few years".

If you were going to do it right I would suggest an x1900xtx and 2gb of Mushkin Redline or some nice G.Skill, Geil, OCZ, or Crucial in the high end department.

Id be prepared to drop at least 4-500.

Well for 300 as Fragtek said you cant buy a decent card that can play top level in few years time as well as 2gb ram to overclock. if your budget is really tight get a Geil value ram 2gb for around £100 i think and Sapphire Ati Radeon x800GTO2 (£120 ) and unlock that and overclock it ( Might wanna check if new cards can be unlocked and overclocked ). Tough u wont have shader 3 and all the fancy image settings but as in speed it should last you for few years. Of course depends what you call top level tbh :)

yeah, £200 for a 7800GT

and you can get decent 2gb kits for just over £150, kemp will know more about the pricing. i'll have a little look around for ya.

Yeah you can get some nice GSklill PC4000 for £150 over at overclockers.co.uk for around $145ish. And a 7800GT is good for £200 :)

Doesn't the country you are in now sell decent PC stuff? If not you may be able to get it tax free if you live there more than 6 months of the year and order it from amazon or somewhere, and that should help keep the cost low.;)

You gotta be joking Im in Spain at the moment and everything here is a year or 2 behind and over priced

Good idea about the tax As I have lived here about 2 .8years now

Would help if you would tell us where you're ordering from so would could look around. Unless you don't really care where you order from. Here's a review of those sticks...: 3200 XTC Kit Review at Overclockers Online

MMMM y send me a USA link when Im in the UK as the first post in this thread pointed out:rolleyes:

I know you're in the UK, I'm just pointing out a review man, not a price. Just giving you an idea of what that kit can do. For the Corsair stuff, what results I've seen have bee quite good, with average of 270-280 and a few who could hit 290 and even 300. Course there were a few bad kits that could only get 255-265, but it's always a gamble anyway. To give you an idea of what each kit can do, see this thread

7th and 8th post for results of Corsair stuff

You can just look around here for plenty of results on all different types of RAM

aye sorry mate my bad and thanks for info

If you want well proven stuff, go for the Mushkins or G.Skill. Consistent 270 and frequently go to 280 and sometimes 290. Corsair normally has a fairly bad reputation for OC, but from what little I've seen, that kit does well. Still a large unknown though
