New Camera - Ricoh Caplio R5 **56k**

I finally got me a new camera (after the missus took hers away for the weekend and I needed one :p).

It's pretty awesome for Macro work which is what I need it for for reviews of hardware etc

Couldn't afford DSLR, but this seems pretty sweet

Here's a couple of pics I took (click for non-windows resized pics):

7 x Zoom on my ATST (old, well-loved and grubby ATST :))

Macro of my ATST

Macro shot of my Cuban lobster

Normal shot of ATST

Normal shot of my wooden cuban lobster

And something you may well be seeing soon:

Macro of a review product

What do y'all think?

Anyone have any suggestions on what else I could do for a better picture? I think they're pretty good but there's always room for improvement

I have macro's enabled on those I have said. I chose F3071 (7MP) and have the anti-blur feature enabled on the camera (it makes a hell of a lot of difference, much clearer when I don't use my tripod)

apart from that it's set to clear the edges of the picture up, I think flash was used in the normal shots, can't remember tho

I`m gonna try very hard not to ask u to review it, coz I really don`t think u`d even want to >.< but ..

Can u give some more details on the camera, in particular it`s size, storage, under lighting conditions, connectivity and types of zoom ? I`m gonna be in the market for one prior to going back to the states and I`d much prefer some1 who`s opinion I regard technically say something about one they have, than look at a large page of them on a website and pick one I`ve heard nothing about.

i'll give youa tip from my professional photograpy lessons. have good lighting and turn the flash off for macro's. Your picture will look 10x times better!!!

Aye I turn off flash for macro's. I don't have the greatest lighting right now but that's mass expensive: one thing at a time.

The light in the bottom picture is from the lighting I used in the picture studio which is too focused.

@Rast - I don't want to review it as I'm not an expert at photography. Suffice it to say it's a very nice camera and only £200 @ Jessops (found for £20 cheaper on the net + pnp, but needed it today).

Mine's the black version (front and back)

Thanks Kemp, nice dimensions on the actual size of the camera too. Some nice specs and tbh £200 is possibly a decent enough price seeing as the canon I had cost about £120 but is bulky - solid, but kinda feels old too. One I can stick in the pocket easy is very nice, and connectivity fits in well.

Does the usb cause a removable drive thing on windows or do u have to use their software to get anywhere ?

I installed the software but hey I won't use it. You can set the camera to be found as a Camera or a Mass Storage device in the camera menu's. I've drag n dropped all of the files so I don't think imma bother using the software

Defo a good size and weight, just need to get me a case now...and some more lights :)

Seems strange to me how cameras over the years mostly don`t come with a case ?!?!

Sure u can buy one `that will do`, but it`d add to the prestige if it were a `Ricoh` made for it.

U don`t exactly walk around with it in u`r hand all the time.

what canon you got rastalovich?

I brought the IXUS 65 last year, didnt come with a case, but got a canon leather one of ebay for £5 inc delivery. Bargain!
